In International GT Open, races 7 and 8 in Brands Hatch/Great Britain

The situation at mid-season for Porsche customer teams in the International GT Open could hardly be better. Clinching second place at yesterday’s seventh race of the season in Brands Hatch put Porsche works driver Marco Holzer (Germany) and Manthey-Racing pilot Nick Tandy (Great Britain) with their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR back at the top of the drivers’ championship.




















Porsche works driver Richard Lietz (26, Austria) has been voted Motor Racing Driver of the Year by the commitee of the Austrian Motorsport Association (OSK).
Once again, the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is the world’s most successful GT race car. The fastest racing-911, developed following the rules of the GT2 category and based on the principles of Porsche Intelligent Performance, left its mark on race tracks around the globe with good lap times, excellent reliability and particularly low fuel consumption.
With places four, five and six on the grid, the Porsche pilots have secured good starting positions for the third round of the Le Mans Series. Fastest in the 911 GT3 RSR of the German Felbermayr-Proton team was Martin Ragginger (Austria) in fourth ahead of French Porsche factory driver Patrick Pilet (IMSA Performance Matmut).
After a car fire early Saturday morning sent the #17 Team Falken Tire Porsche back to the garage for extensive repairs, Bryan Sellers knew that racing in the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix in Round 4 of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón (ALMS) was going to be tough. And he came prepared.
Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler won at the 24 Hours of the Le Mans for the first time Sunday, the German winning in GT2 for Team Felbermayr Proton and its Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Henzler – who drives for Team Falken Tire with Bryan Sellers in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón – won by two laps with Marc Lieb and Richard Lietz.
Halfway through its first race at the Le Mans 24 Hours in GT2, Corvette Racing showed the same dominance it exhibited in GT1. The two-car Corvette factory squad sat 1-2 in class through 12 hours of the world’s most famous auto race. Emmanuel Collard in the No. 64 Corvette C6.R led teammate Antonio Garcia in a frantic GT2 battle.
Guy Smith put Mazda power out front at its home track with the fastest time in Friday’s first official practice session for the American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patrón. Dyson Racing’s English ace posted a best lap of 1:14.335 (108.385 mph) in the Lola-Mazda coupe that he will drive with Chris Dyson and Andy Meyrick. 
Black Swan Racing is set to come back in a big way for 2010. The Tim Pappas-owned team has moved into a new shop in Harvard, Mass., a location that will be central to the team’s return to full-time competition next season.
