Spaniard Carlos Checa has started the ‘Panigale’ era of Ducati in World Superbike by winning the Tissot-Superpole at Phillip Island.
The Ducati Team Alstare managed to take the best out of the new Borgo Panigale superbike by setting an incredible 1’30.234, that means a brand-new Best Lap for the series and the 10th pole position of his career.

Mixed weather played a part in today’s second and final eni FIM Superbike World Championship testing day at Phillip Island.
The 15 riders who got onto the track during the morning session took a steadier approach to the 4445 km circuit compared to yesterday, though they still continued their work on the drying track.

Casey Stoner continued his dominant form at Phillip Island today with his fourth consecutive pole position at his home Grand Prix, prompting adoring fans to rename the venue ‘Casey’s Island’. His best lap came using the soft front slick and the softer option rear.

Round 16: Australian GP – Free Practice One & Two
Casey Stoner got his home Grand Prix off to a great start today, heading the timesheets in both free practice sessions aboard his Repsol Honda machine. As the conditions changed between the two sessions, Stoner’s best lap actually came in the morning’s session, as it did for half of the riders in the top ten, and was just 0.4seconds off the lap record.

Ever since his first sessions in the official IMS tests at Phillip Island earlier this week Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) made himself a force to be reckoned with in front of 63,200 spectators at Phillip Island. On the opening day of the new season the Superpole winner made himself a convincing double race winner.
