Mexican Gutierrez is struggling so far in 2013
Sauber could be on the verge of being sold, according to the well-connected Swiss newspaper Blick.
“At the season opener an old rumour resurfaced,” wrote veteran correspondent Roger Benoit. “Is Sauber being sold?” Benoit said that, in the past, Peter Sauber usually categorically denied such rumours, but new boss Monisha Kaltenborn told Blick: “These rumours have always existed.
Sauber’s ultra-slim sidepods work well, team co-owner, founder and former boss Peter Sauber has revealed.
The Swiss team stunned its opposition when it launched the new Ferrari-powered C32, featuring the smallest sidepods seen in modern times in formula one. Peter Sauber has declared himself happy with 2013 team racer Esteban Gutierrez, following the Mexican rookie’s first test of the pre-season at Jerez.

Peter Sauber has urged Robin Frijns, the Swiss F1 team’s new reserve driver, to find a race cockpit in another series for 2013.

Sauber will reveal its 2013 car, the C32, in the days before it makes its track debut at the start of winter testing.
Team founder Peter Sauber had already announced that the new Ferrari-powered single seater will run for the first time at Jerez on February 5. The Swiss team on Thursday invited the media to an official launch event at its Hinwil headquarters, on 2 February.
McLaren will launch its 2013 car on the last day of January, the famous British team has announced.
A media statement issued by the Woking based outfit offered no further details except to say the MP4-28 unveiling “will take place in the UK”. It is likely most other teams will also reveal their new contenders around the same period, immediately before the three-test winter pre-season period begins in Spain in early February.
