Vijay Mallya was not in a good mood when he was swamped by Indian media at his home grand prix.
The Indian billionaire had been branded an “absconder” by some of his countrymen as he holed up in London amid his ailing airline Kingfisher’s crisis. But he arrived at the Buddh circuit near New Delhi on Saturday, and immediately had to face a barrage of questions including whether his private Airbus had been “seized” by unpaid airline authorities.

Jenson Button’s manager has admitted he is concerned about McLaren’s accommodation for the Indian grand prix weekend.
Earlier, we reported that mosquitoes are a problem at McLaren’s hotel, particularly with hundreds of New Delhi locals having contracted the deadly Dengue fever. McLaren is staying at the Hilton, which is a sponsor of the British team. “The Hilton is really nice and the people there are friendly and helpful,” Button’s manager Richard Goddard is quoted by the Daily Mail.

Ferrari has waded right into a political debate by vowing to display the flag of the Italian navy on its formula one cars in India this weekend.
The famous team said the move is “in the hope that the Indian and Italian authorities will soon find a solution” to a situation involving two Italian sailors. Media reports said the sailors were being held by Indian authorities on murder charges, following the fatal shooting of two Indian fisherman mistaken for Somali pirates.

Sahara India Pariwar will be investing approximately USD 100 mn into the Force India Formula One Team
Sahara India Pariwar, a leading promoter and patron of sports in India, today announced an equity investment in the Force India Formula One Team, India’s only F1 team. Subsequent to subscribing to new shares, Sahara India Pariwar will be investing approximately USD 100 mn into the Force India Formula One Team. With this investment both the Sahara India Pariwar and Dr. Mallya will own 42.5% each in the team. The Mol family’s equity will be at 15%.

Hundreds of angry Indian farmers have threatened to sabotage the new Buddh circuit.
With the New Delhi venue scheduled to host the inaugural Indian grand prix in October, over 300 farmers on Wednesday staged a protest near the site. DNA India said they are angry at how their lands were acquired to make room for the project.

F1′s governing body will inspect the new Indian grand prix venue at the end of August.
The Buddh circuit near New Delhi is nearing completion ahead of its inaugural formula one race on October 30. The Asian Age reports that FIA official Charlie Whiting will inspect the venue so that it can be homologated on September 1.
