The expanded 2012 schedule is a response from a season-ending survey sent out by Series officials.
Just over two weeks away, the second edition of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series is set to grow in 2012, adding another race weekend (six in total, for 12 races) and more teams, drivers, chassis and engines.

Another race event added to the Grand Prix schedule
A gathering of nearly 40 drivers, that will include a mix of seasoned veterans and young hopefuls, will once again line up on the starting grid of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, next June 10, 11 & 12, for a round of the 2011 Formula 1600 Series schedule. Octane Racing Group, promoter of the event has announced today the return of one of the Montréal crowd favourite open-wheel series at the Grand Prix du Canada.

32 cars on the initial entry list
The F1600 Formula F Championship Series will embark on history this weekend at VIRginia International Raceway for the inaugural rounds of the new national pro series with 32 cars on the initial entry list. Nine chassis manufacturers are represented with 12 Honda Fit and 20 Ford Kent engines.

Morgan leads the championship heading into Atlanta
The average margin of victory during the opening rounds of the 2010 F2000 Championship Series at VIR was .341 seconds. American driver Cole Morgan, coming off his first win since taking the 2007 title, is leading the national championship by two points over Brazilian Victor Carbone, now in his second season at Alegra Motorsports, as the 30-plus car field heads to Road Atlanta.

Jesse Yorio will be back in 2010 in a brand new Piper F5C chassis. Joining a 30-car F2000 Championship Series field dominated by Van Diemens, with expected new cars from Radon and Ralph Firman Racing, in addition to standing entries from Citation and Mygale, the new Piper will make it a season of chassis wars in the F2000 world. Yorio, out of New York, will be back for his fourth straight season, driving under the Company Motorsports banner alongside teammate Jeff McCusker.

2009 Masters Class champion Tom Fatur is back for the season with GTP
GTP Motorsports, a long-time F2000 Championship Series team, has confirmed a full season five-car effort for 2010 highlighted by the new Radon chassis. GTP will field 2009 Masters Class champion Tom Fatur, alongside Watkins Glen winner Phil Lombardi in Radon-equipped Van Diemen cars.

Young Canadian open wheel racer Gianmarco Raimondo heads back to Europe for busy series of testing sessions
Gianmarco Raimondo, 2008 Formula BMW Americas Rookie Champion, continued his racing journey and 2010 preparations with a series of Formula 3 tests in Europe. Raimondo recently flew to Paris in early November and headed straight the famed Magny-Cours racing facility in Nevers, France where he continued to test and impress in the F3 cars.

British Formula Ford runner-up’s chances at repeat victory halted by overheating engine
Josef Newgarden’s hopes of a repeat win at the historic Formula Ford Festival in England unfortunately ended prematurely over the weekend (October 17-18). The British Formula Ford runner-up and Rookie of the Year failed to finish a lap in the Final, when an overheating engine forced the American into pitlane after a superb start.
Team was revealed for the first time at Silverstone today, shaking down its Mercedes-powered Mygale chassis on the National circuit with Formula Renault champion, Dean Smith, behind the wheel.
