Motegi is referred to as a ‘stop-and-go’ circuit

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa won for the second consecutive time at Motegi in a race that saw an all-Spanish podium with Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo and San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista placing second and third respectively.







Round fifteen of the 2012 MotoGP™ season takes place at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit for one of the most important contests of the year, as the strong Japanese presence in the paddock – including Bridgestone – celebrate their home Grand Prix as the championship battle enters a critical phase.








Dani Pedrosa, who suffered multiple collarbone fractures when the throttle of his RCV stuck open in practice at Motegi on October 1, is flying out to Australia today (Monday) and will ride in this weekend’s MotoGP at Phillip Island.
After being postponed from its original date of April, the Japanese Grand Prix was held at the beginning of October, meaning higher ambient and track temperatures and still the possibility of rain. Rain only fell on Thursday and the track remained dry for the rest of the grand prix weekend, but to cope with the increased temperature Bridgestone brought harder slick tyre compounds than had been selected for the April date.
Valentino Rossi is hoping to put up more of a fight in this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.
MotoGP rookie Jorge Lorenzo took his fourth pole position of the 2008 season, but first since April’s Portuguese Grand prix, at Motegi on Saturday.
