BYR\FOGI Racing’s Ben Young battled through a variety of challenges to earn a commendable 21st place finish at this past weekend’s AMA Pro Road Racing GoPro Daytona SportBike race at Miller Motorsports Park.

Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) and Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) took one race victory apiece
On a sunny race day at Miller Motorsports Park the sixth round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship delivered some great action and two different race winners to the 49,000 strong weekend crowd. In a landmark day for the series, race one saw World Superbike reach its 600th individual race mark.

Earning the perfect starting place for Monday’s two SBK races.
Jakub Smrz (Liberty Racing Team Effenbert Ducati) scored his first Tissot-Superpole win of the season after setting a lap time of 1 minute 47.626 seconds in the last of three sessions. It was his second career pole position in this class, following the one he obtained back in 2009 at Misano. Despite a few spots of rain appearing on the riders’ visors during a dry Superpole contest Smrz rode with full pace right at the end to earn the perfect starting place for Monday’s two SBK races.

Team Myers, comprised of 18-year-old AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport racer Elena Myers, Kevin Cruise of U92 Radio in Salt Lake City, SSgt. Kyle Perry of the Utah Air National Guard and fan Ryan Bergeson of Grand Junction, Colo., won today’s Second Annual DRIFT BigM Superbike Super Celebrity Mega Kart Showdown at Miller Motorsports Park.

Honda teammates swap seats
Jonathan Rea, who rides the No. 65 Honda CBR1000RR for the Honda World Superbike Team in the FIM Superbike World Championship, will be unable to participate in today’s Second Annual DRIFT BigM Superbike Super Celebrity Mega Kart Showdown at Miller Motorsports Park. As a result, his teammate, Hiroshi Aoyama, who rides the team’s No. 4 entry, will take his place.

After missing the third round of the 2012 AMA Pro Road Racing season at Infineon Raceway, BYR/FOGI Racing’s Ben Young is eager to get back in the mix this weekend as AMA Pro Road Racing returns to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele Valley, Utah for the BigM Weekend on May 26-28.

In the wake of two fantastic races at Donington that saw five different riders and four different manufacturers vying for the win right down to the wire, the eni FIM Superbike World Championship is now heading towards the Utah high plains for the sixth of the 14 rounds in this year’s calendar.

AMA Pro GoPro Daytona Sportbike competitor Ben Young and the BYR/Fogi Racing team unfortunately will not be competing at this weekend’s third round of the 2012 AMA Pro Road Racing series being held at Infineon Raceway located in the Sonoma Valley in Northern California.

Utah Grand Prix
Sean Johnston gave pole-sitter and hometown favorite Madison Snow a run for his money at the end of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama series second race in the Utah Grand Prix, but he came up half a second short of stopping Snow from collecting his second victory of the weekend.

Series Moves to Miller Motorsports Park in Utah for Rounds 3 & 4 in April
Rookie Tristan Nunez made a statement in the opening rounds of the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda series, dominating both races at Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway during the 60th Anniversary of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida.
IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama qualifying for the Utah Grand Prix was a display of young talent flexing its muscles to break Miller Motorsports Park track records. 
Miller Motorsports Park has signed an agreement with DRIFT that names DRIFT as the Official Point-of-View (POV) Camera of Miller Motorsports Park.
