Heikki Kovalainen has rejected Caterham technical boss Mike Gascoyne’s criticism.
Gascoyne, former F1 stalwart and now the technical boss of the entire Caterham Group, said this week that Finn Kovalainen harmed his chances of staying in F1 due to his poor management team and a lack of respect as he tried to move up the grid in 2013.

Following reports he was the favourite to secure the other Caterham race seat, Vitaly Petrov’s manager actually sounds far from optimistic.
German reports had suggested the Russian has found new sponsors and was on the cusp of sealing the deal to secure his place at the team for 2013. “So far, we haven’t managed to find new sponsors,” Petrov’s manager Oksana Kosachenko is quoted by R-Sport.

Heikki Kovalainen harmed his chances of staying in formula one beyond 2012 by demonstrating a lack of “respect” to Caterham.
That is the claim of Mike Gascoyne, the team’s former technical boss who now oversees the technical operations of the entire Caterham Group. After three years at the back of the grid with Caterham, Finn Kovalainen – now managed by IMG – attempted to secure a better seat for 2013 but ultimately now faces dropping out of formula one altogether.

Mike Gascoyne has admitted he misses the F1 pitwall.
Since 2010, the former Renault and Toyota technical director has been a leading figure at Caterham (nee Lotus). But in April of this year, it was announced he was leaving the F1 team to become the chief technical officer of the entire Caterham group.

The case was heard at the High Court, London during January 2012
Following the publication of Team Lotus wind tunnel model pictures in November 2009, Force India Formula One Team lodged a complaint with the Criminal Court in Italy and subsequently commenced civil proceedings in the UK High Court, citing concerns in respect of Team Lotus, Aerolab and Mike Gascoyne illegally copying Force India Formula One Team design intellectual property accessed from secure files held at Aerolab.

Mike Gascoyne has handed over day-to-day control of the Caterham team’s technical operations.
The former Lotus outfit announced that Briton Gascoyne – a founding member of the Tony Fernandes-led team and a long-term prominent figure in the paddock – has become chief technical officer of the whole Caterham Group.

Mike Gascoyne has been appointed Caterham Group Chief Technical Officer (CTO) with immediate effect.
Reflecting the ongoing evolution of the Caterham Group, and its determination to continue to develop and provide new opportunities for its staff at all levels, Mike will now be responsible for proposing, supporting and coordinating key technical initiatives in Caterham Group’s motorsport activities (F1 and GP2), Caterham Cars, Caterham Composites and Caterham Technology & Innovation. He will report directly to Caterham Group CEO Riad Asmat and will coordinate overall strategic technical projects across each of the Caterham Group companies.

Red Bull raised eyebrows throughout the F1 world on Monday by showing some glimpses of its 2012 car.
Although detailed images are not yet available, the ‘stepped nose’ on the RB8 features a mysterious air intake. “Why?” wondered Germany’s Bild newspaper. Spain’s Marca said the intake is “surprising and unprecedented” among the growing field of 2012.

Caterham’s 2012 formula one car has been declared fit to run by the governing FIA.
A new rule for next year means cars now have to pass all the mandatory crash tests before they are allowed even to test ahead of the 2012 season. Technical boss Mike Gascoyne, referring also to the team’s new identity after two seasons as Lotus, revealed the good news via Twitter.

He joined the team as Performance Director
Team Lotus has today confirmed that John Iley, one of the leading aerodynamicists in global motorsport, has joined the team as Performance Director, heading up all aerodynamics, CFD and related activity for the team and reforming the successful partnership he previously enjoyed with Mike Gascoyne at Jordan and Renault F1.
The partnership will see Caterham Composites, a division of the Caterham Group, working with Fiveº West ‘s grand prix yacht racing campaigns.
Mike Gascoyne insists the time has arrived for the Caterham F1 team to start beating the established outfits on a regular basis during the 2012 season.
