The Merchants Bank 150 at Barre’s Thunder Road cranked up the heat on the American Canadian Tour, shaking up the point standings before a key showdown takes place at the Spring Green 113 this Sunday, May 5 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT.

The stars of the American Canadian Tour and Thunder Road’s local divisions lit up Barre, VT for the annual Car Show on Saturday, April 27 before heading to The Nation’s Site of Excitement for a practice in preparation for the 15th Annual Merchants Bank 150 on Sunday, April 28.

Eddie MacDonald, a two-time New Hampshire Motor Speedway winner with the American Canadian Tour (ACT), has entered the Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road this Sunday, April 28, adding to a star-studded entry list for Thunder Road’s season opening event.

Laperle is enthusiastic about starting the 2012 racing season.
Two-time and defending Serie ACT Castrol Champion Patrick Laperle has filed his entry for the 14th Annual Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road. The former ACT US star, who won the ACT Championship in 2008, will make his return to the Barre Highbanks to kick off the 2012 season.

The Late Model stars of the Northeast will be looking to send a message in their respective championship hopes at The Merchants Bank 150. After a fierce battle for the win at the ACT season opener at Lee USA Speedway, the pressure heats up at Thunder Road for the second race of the 2012 ACT season. Many drivers will have a chip on their shoulder from missed opportunities in the opener, and will look for vengeance at The ‘Road.

The buzz still lingers following the third annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which is considered by many as the best event of the tripleheader this past Saturday, September 24.

The defending track champion started 8th
Barre, VT’s Nick Sweet claimed his second straight Merchants Bank 150 win at Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday, May 1. The defending track champion came from his 8th starting position to take the lead from Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. on lap 91. Sweet would work his way through lap traffic with ease and never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the event.

Divisional Champions lead 2011 Thunder Road Rookie Class
The 13th annual Merchants Bank 150 will open the new season at Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday, May 1, 2011. There is no track on the American Canadian Tour (ACT) schedule that presents a bigger challenge to the ACT regular touring teams than Thunder Road and its regular teams. As many as eight (8) former Thunder Road “King of the Road” champions are expected to be at the opening event.

Veteran racers Jamie Aube from Bow, NH and Mike Bruno from Rutland, VT have announced that they will both be returning to their racing roots, Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont for the 2011 season. “This is great news for Thunder Road fans and competitors,” said Tom Curley, promoter at Thunder Road for the past 32 seasons. “This is like having part of the family returning home. Jamie started his career at Catamount Stadium in Milton, VT and at Thunder Road. He was a main-stay on the old NASCAR NORTH Tour we started back in 1979.

A rookie American-Canadian Tour Late Model stock car pit crew defeated the reigning ACT championship team to win Saturday’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl Pit Stop Contest in downtown Barre City, VT, part of the 10th Annual Merchants Bank 150 and Car Show weekend.
