“When I read certain names in the papers, I have to laugh” - Alonso

Fernando Alonso has admitted to having a “laugh” when he read the names of certain supposed candidates to be his Ferrari teammate in 2013.

That is the view of former Super Aguri driver Anthony Davidson, who now works as a television pundit for the British broadcaster Sky.

This week, Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn was quoted by Reuters as saying F1 “must make sure” that the “random factor” seen earlier in 2012 is not permanent. Briton Davidson, however, thinks the problem is already fading.

The entry list for the 2011 edition of the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions is closed. According to Felipe Massa, the man behind the idea of the double-header race which will be held on Saturday and Sunday for the sixth time in a row in Florianópois (Brazil), 29 top class drivers from various series around the world will take part in the event, including newcomers as F1 hot-shoes Adrian Sutil, Pastor Maldonado and Jérôme D’Ambrosio. “It’s the largest number ever of F1 drivers”, celebrated the Ferrari star.

Karun Chandhok claims he has turned down the chance to return to the F1 grid in 2011 with the HRT team.

With his Indian countryman Narain Karthikeyan in one seat, there is still a vacancy with the Spanish team but 2010 rookie Chandhok told the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) that he “turned it down”.

Venezuelan leads the way after storm delay
Pastor Maldonado has taken the top spot in free practice today in Monza after a one hour delay as a result of a massive storm which flooded the paddock and the circuit, with Alberto Valerio and Mike Conway following in his wake on the still soaking circuit.
