Lotus confirms Grosjean as Raikkonen’s teammate

Lotus Renault GP and TOTAL are delighted to announce that Romain Grosjean will race alongside 2007 world champion Kimi Räikkönen next season. The two companies are also pleased to confirm that they have renewed their sponsorship agreement for another year.

Kimi, good news today, you have decided to come back to Formula 1. Why are you coming back? The main reason was that I never really lost the passion for racing in Formula 1, just maybe for all the other things around it. But when I did some NASCAR races this year I noticed that I was increasingly missing the racing side – to race against each other – because in rallying you really race against the clock. And then I got the call from certain people in Formula 1. All sorts of things happened and we managed to have a nice conversation with Lotus Renault GP and make a deal – I’m really very happy with that!

Red Bull FMX riders top shows for ROC 2011
Highlights include the Lotus Renault GP two-seater F1 car, rally legend Stig Blomqvist in the Audi S1, Chris Pfeiffer Streetbike Freestyle Rider and stunt driver Terry Grant’s world record attempt for driving on two wheels. The shows run alongside the main event, the Race Of Champions, whose line-up includes three Formula 1 world champions.

Kubica will not start 2012 season with Renault

Robert Kubica has today informed Lotus Renault GP that, despite having started an intensive training programme, it is still too early for him to commit to driving in the 2012 championship. Robert’s progress remains impressive – he can now walk freely, and move his hand and elbow -, but he feels that he needs more time to return to full fitness.

Vitaly Petrov has apologised for slamming his employer Lotus Renault GP in an interview, manager Oksana Kossatchenko said on Friday.

In the Russian interview with Rossiya 2, the 27-year-old hit out at the Enstone based team’s rate of development this season as well as its pitstops, race strategies and bosses, and admitted it is possible he will be ousted for “business” reasons despite having a signed contract for 2012.

Vietoris is more than happy to miss out on the F1 trial to be involved in the DTM testing with Mercedes

Christian Vietoris was actually due to link up with the Lotus Renault GP team for this week’s Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, but he has now pulled out. Instead, he will be spending Tuesday to Thursday taking the new DTM AMG Mercedes C Coupé out for the first time at the Monte Blanco circuit in Spain.

Canadian Champion looking ahead to Abu Dhabi and Formula One Test

Canada’s Robert Wickens hasn’t had much time to reflect on his title-winning campaign, where he raced his Marussia Motors-backed entry to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series title, but prior to heading out to the Indian Grand Prix this weekend with Marussia Virgin Racing, the 22-year-old Formula One reserve driver reflected on his first European open-wheel racing title, the competition he faced and his upcoming Formula One test in Abu Dhabi in November.

Today, Robert underwent one last scheduled operation in Italy, aimed at recovering the full mobility of his right elbow.

The surgeons are happy to report that they have been able to complete 100% of their task and did not encounter any complications. They have described the outcome of the operation as “a total success”.
