Opting for Bridgestone’s hard compound slicks front and rear, Dani Pedrosa took victory for the Repsol Honda Team at Mugello in decisive style, setting a new lap record on only the fifth lap of the race and consistently lapping faster than the existing lap record. The Spaniard was the only rider to lap in the 1m 49second bracket.

Loris Capirossi admits Rizla Suzuki has a lot of work to do when MotoGP pre-season testing resumes in Qatar this week, although he maintains he is ‘fired up’ for it. The 2010 Suzuki GSV-R will be making a first appearance in its revised colour scheme around the Losail circuit from Thursday, with Capirossi and Alvaro Bautista hoping to build on the form shown during testing at Sepang last month.

MOTOGP: Rossi and Stoner maintain dominance at Sepang

Reigning MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi maintained his perfect start to 2010 by once again leading the way at the start of the second Sepang test. Rossi and 2007 world champion Casey Stoner occupied the top two places during the previous two-day test earlier this month, and that pattern continued on their return – with the factory Ducati rider left 0.151sec behind the #46 Fiat Yamaha.

As Alvaro Bautista continues his initiation on the GSV-R, Loris Capirossi gave Rizla Suzuki something to smile about following the opening MotoGP test of the year at Sepang after the Italian set the sixth fastest lap time.
An exciting qualifying session in the Italian sunshine ended with Jorge Lorenzo taking pole. 
With a promising third position in Friday free practice at Jerez, but has plenty of set-up work ahead.
