Compass360 Racing driver to fly new livery at Laguna Seca and Lime Rock Park

Andrew Novich’s #74 Honda Civic Si will hit the track in a decidedly different look at the next Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race, at the iconic Laguna Seca raceway in Monterey, California on September 8th, 2012. 100-Race Salute: Bill Auberlen

Lap times were incredibly close in the first practice session for the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. The race is Round Four of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. Muscle Milk Pickett Racing’s Lucas Luhr set the quickest time overall and in P1, while Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen set the fastest GT lap.

It’s a short but remarkably quick lap

Even at 1.5 miles and seven turns, Lime Rock Park boasts some of the fastest speeds in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. Average qualifying and race speeds are well in excess of 100 mph, even for GT cars. Add to that the close quarters and heavy traffic with 32 cars, and the sensation of speed goes up dramatically.

VP Racing Fuels now official supplier for Lime Rock Park

With VP designated as the track’s exclusive fuel supplier, the fueling station in Lime Rock’s B Paddock will pump VP’s VP100 Unleaded, VP110 Leaded and C12 Leaded (112) for racing competitors, as well as an unleaded 93 octane for track-day customers. The agreement also includes new pumps and VP signage.

La Rocca won at Lime Rock
Robert La Rocca took his fifth win of 2012 at Lime Rock Park, bouncing back from an earlier incident in race one that saw him finish third with a broken front wing. Just a few hours later, La Rocca worked lapped traffic more carefully, leading every lap from pole en route to his fifth win in six races for HP-Tech Motorsport in the No. 10 Van Diemen, finishing ahead of Tim Minor, in the Citation chassis, and Chris Livengood in a RFR, both notching their first podiums of 2012.

Newey out front at Lime Rock
Brandon Newey survived a 20-lap F1600 Formula F Championship Series battle with Matias Koykka and eventually separated, breaking the draft, surviving a late race restart and winning his second race of the year after Koykka won in the morning during a doubleheader day at Lime Rock Park. Jeremy Grenier finished a career best second in the Citation/Honda, with Joe Colasacco third, completing the podium in a Van Diemen/Honda.

Gooden grabbed his first F2000 win at Lime Rock
Wyatt Gooden took his maiden victory at Lime Rock Park, inheriting the lead after Robert La Rocca first tore off half a front wing dealing with lapped traffic, and Kyle Connery then went off in the late stages of the race, again, while working lapped traffic around the 1.53-mile circuit. Gooden stood on top of the podium after three straight top three finishes in the No. 6 Quantum Racing Services Van Diemen with Niki Coello finishing second in the RFR chassis, and La Rocca somehow coming home third with a missing left front wing.

Koykka took his second win in three races
Matias Koykka started from pole and never looked back, leading all 30 laps to his second F1600 Formula F Championship Series victory in three races, driving the No. 10 Spectrum/Honda for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. Koykka made it a perfect points morning, setting fast lap, to win over Brandon Newey, who leads the points, and Jeremy Grenier.

Tony Ave took the pole for Saturday’s 100-mile feature Trans Am race

On a beautiful day at Lime Rock Park for practice and qualifying for the season-opening Trans Am race weekend, Tony Ave took the pole for Saturday’s 100-mile feature Trans Am race, taking his Lamers/PME Engines/RPX Chevy Corvette around Lime Rock in :50.845. Ave, the 2011 Trans Am champion, is trying to recover from a poor result in last weekend’s opening round at Mosport, where he DNF’d after suffering a broken axle midway through the race.

La Rocca on pole again.
Robert La Rocca paced a 25-minute F2000 Championship Series qualifying session for race one of the weekend at the 1.53-mile Lime Rock Park road course. For La Rocca, it was his fourth SOS Children’s Village pole in five attempts in 2012 in the No. 10 HP-Tech Motorsport Van Diemen. Kyle Connery will start second in another Van Diemen, ahead of Wyatt Gooden, Niki Coello and Chris Livengood.

Koykka made it three poles so far, in 2012
Matias Koykka made it three poles in a row, remaining perfect in qualifying in 2012 and leading the way for race one qualifying around the 1.53-mile seven-turn Lime Rock Park road course in the No. 10 Spectrum/Honda for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. Koykka will lead the field to green from the SOS Children’s Village Pole with a fast lap of 53.5 alongside Brandon Newey, who qualified second.

F2000 Championship Series heads to Lime Rock Park

After four races in 2012, Robert La Rocca and HP-Tech Motorsport have four wins, three poles, and a commanding lead in the 2012 F2000 Championship Series points standings. However, there is no shortage of fast drivers at the pointed end of the grid looking to challenge La Rocca as the F2000 Series heads to Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day weekend for a doubleheader with more than 30 entries.
