Lime Rock Park logoALMSMuscle Milk Pickett Racing scored a victory for the ages at Lime Rock Park on Saturday. Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf came from four laps down to win the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix. It was the second victory at Lime Rock Park for the Muscle Milk team but first with Honda Performance Development’s ARX-03a prototype.

Guy Smith put Dyson Racing on pole position Friday for the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix in an epic 15-minute session. Smith set a lap of 44.017 (120.553 mph) in Dyson Racing’s Mazda-powered Lola coupe that he drives with Chris Dyson.

F1600 F Championship logoWyatt Gooden remained perfect in F1600 competition, taking his fourth win of 2011 in just four starts, and his second win of the day at Watkins Glen for Quantum Racing Services in a Van Diemen/Honda. The bigger story however, was the inaugural Championship, which went to Bill Valet, who finished third in a nail-biting slip-streaming battle among a number of cars, including closest points rival Tim Kautz, who had to settle for sixth place in the season finale.

Wyatt Gooden, driving a Van Diemen/Honda for Quantum Racing Services, led from pole for his third win, by just a nose, of 2011, in just three starts, in a shortened race due to a crash on lap seven.

F1600 F Championship logoThe inaugural season finale for the F1600 Formula F Championship Series is set for a thrilling showdown at Watkins Glen this weekend, with Bill Valet and Tim Kautz going head to head for the Dangerous Cargo Cup. Valet leads the standings over Kautz by 10 points, with 110 up for grabs at Watkins Glen. However, with drops calculated, Kautz jumps to the top of the F1600 standings by 13 points. Meanwhile, 26 other entries will try to play spoiler in what has been an ultra-competitive season.

Art Foster came through to win his first F1600 Formula F Championship Series race at his home track in a Van Diemen/Ford.

F1600 F Championship logoFoster, a long time racer, found the top step of the podium after an epic yet high-attrition battle among the leaders. Ryan Leach was a career best second in the Spectrum/Honda and Colin Thompson tied his career best finish in third in a Swift/Honda.

Valet wins on home turf

Valet won his second race of 2011

Bill Valet capitalized on home turf, winning his second race of 2011 in the first of two F1600 Formula F Championship Series races at Lime Rock in his Swift/Ford. Valet takes the points lead (without calculating drops) from Tim Kautz, who failed to finish with mechanical issues. Meanwhile, Art Foster came home second and Colin Thompson drove from dead last to third, even leading a few laps in the late stages of the race.

After four wins, Audette leads the standings

The F2000 Championship Series takes over Connecticut’s “Bull Ring,” Lime Rock Park, this weekend, for rounds 11 and 12 of the 2011 season along with the F1600 Formula F Championship Series and the NASCAR Modifieds. Remy Audette is coming off his fourth win of the year in a drama-filled race at Mosport, and leads the championship following a seven-week break heading into the 1.53-mile seven-turn road course.

With four races to go, coming off a 10-week break since Mid-Ohio, the inaugural battle for the F1600 Formula F Championship Series crown is heating up heading into the doubleheader weekend at Lime Rock Park. Tim Kautz leads the way, with two wins and strong finishes in his Piper/Ford, but Lime Rock will pose challenges for the Championship leader with a host of local experts and young guns expected to challenge for the wins.
