Second team to race 2011’s most successful LMP2
Success breeds success. A second team is to run one of Zytek’s championship winning Z011SN LMP2 prototypes in this year’s European Le Mans Series and, entry permitting, at Le Mans itself. Kent-based Jota Sport has announced this week that it will join Greaves Motorsport to race 2011’s most successful LMP2 car.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is ready to race. The top model of Porsche Motorsport’s customer racing vehicles will head into the 2012 season with extensive modifications. Particularly striking at first glance are the changes to the body: the width of the new GT3 RSR has grown by 48 millimetres. Built to conform to the A.C.O. “LM” GTE regulations, the 911 represents the crowning pinnacle of a range of successful customer sport race cars that are based on the 997 type 911 GT3 RS street sports car.

Repton prepared engines win every LMS round

Zytek Nissan-engined cars finished first and second in the LMP2 class at yesterday’s Six Hours of Estoril. The result capped a superb Le Mans Series season in which the 4.5-litre VK45DE power unit won its category at every round and in which the Greaves Motorsport Zytek-Nissan Z11SN claimed the team and driver’s championships with three victories from five races.

Marco Wittmann (Signature) was victorious in the third Formula 3 Euro Series race at the 5.901 kilometres long Silverstone circuit.

In spite of a drive through penalty for jumping the start, points’ leader Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) still to the chequered flag in second place. Carlos Muñoz (Signature) ended up third in the race that had many entertaining position fights. With six races remaining, Merhi’s advantage in the drivers’ standings is 76 points, Wittmann has moved up into second place again.

Marco Sørensen (Mücke Motorsport) crowned his guest drive in the Formula 3 Euro Series with victory in the second race at Silverstone. At the 5.901 kilometres long Silverstone circuit, he finished ahead of the two Spaniards Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam) and Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam), who ended up second and third respectively.

Roberto Merhi dominates first Silverstone race

At the venue of the British Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Spaniard completed the 19 race laps 18.773 seconds ahead of Marco Wittmann (Signature). Merhi’s team-mate Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam) rounded out the podium in third place. With his eigth season win, Merhi extended his points’ lead in the Formula 3 Euro Series while Wittmann moved up to one point behind second-placed Juncadella.

Kimiya Sato fourth for the first time

Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam, 1:52.868 minutes) set the fastest time in Formula 3 Euro Series qualifying at the 5.901 kilometres long Grand Prix circuit in Silverstone. The 20-year old Spaniard was 0.168 seconds faster than his compatriot and team-mate Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam, 1:53.036 minutes), who ended up second. Masters winner Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport, 1:53.444 minutes) followed in third place.

This weekend, the Formula 3 Euro Series is going to race for the first time in its history at the tradition-rich 5.901-kilometre Silverstone circuit.

For the second time this year – the first time was the season opener at le Castellet, France – the Euro Series young guns won’t be racing within the framework of DTM but in the support programme of the Le Mans Series, with newly crowned Masters winner Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport) travelling to the UK with boosted self confidence.

Proven experience chosen for new car

Zytek Engineering has been chosen to supply the engine for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series 2012 – 2014. The Repton based manufacturer was a logical choice, as its incredibly reliable engines have been the specified power units for Formula 3000, A1GP and the Auto GP series. Zytek engines have also won in class at Le Mans and powered Zytek’s own chassis to overall victories in the Le Mans Series and American Le Mans Series races, along with the LMS LMP2 drivers and team championships in 2009.

Zytek Hybrid livery competition closing date extended to 10th May 2011

Technical issues with email entries has resulted in the need to extend the closing date. All entries already submitted can be revised and re submitted if required. The winning design will now be unveiled prior to the Imola LMS race (1st-3rd July), and will be liveried on the car for that race.

Zytek are offering Motorsport fans the unique opportunity to design the livery for their new Hybrid LMP1 sportscar, the first petrol-electric hybrid car to run in the Le Mans Series (LMS). Using Zytek’s latest KERS technology the car will be run by Italian Team MIK Corse.
