Pat Symonds is confident Marussia can finally compete head-to-head with Caterham in 2013.

Since F1′s small new teams arrived in 2010, Caterham has been consistently the best, finishing the lucrative tenth spot in the championship at every attempt. Former Renault technical chief Symonds, however – who is now back in F1 full-time after the 2009 ‘crashgate’ scandal – is confident he is presiding over a competitive project for the coming season.

Sahara Force India unveiled its 2013 challenger today as Paul Di Resta pulled the covers off the VJM06 at Silverstone circuit.

The VJM06 is the third car to be overseen by Technical Director, Andrew Green, and builds on the strengths of the 2012 car. With stable technical rules the car is more evolution than revolution with the removal of the ‘step’ nose being the most obvious visual change.

Toro Rosso will switch to Renault power for the start of F1′s new V6 engine era in 2014.

That is the claim of the authoritative German specialist publication Auto Motor und Sport, reporting that the Red Bull-owned team will end its long association with supplier Ferrari after the V8 era concludes late next year.

Bruno Senna suffered burns to his back in last Sunday’s Singapore grand prix, the Williams team has revealed.

The Brazilian driver retired from the night race on the last lap, several laps after the KERS unit failed in his FW34 car. In an official race review released on Wednesday, Williams revealed that Senna “had some burn marks on his back after the race” but could not confirm how it happened.

Eric Boullier has admitted it is unlikely Jerome d’Ambrosio will make another appearance on the grand prix asphalt in 2012.

Lotus’ Boullier-managed Belgian reserve driver replaced Romain Grosjean at Monza recently, while the team’s French regular served his one-race ban. D’Ambrosio is the team’s official reserve driver, who at the start of the 2012 season was slated to make some Friday morning practice appearances in the black Lotus.
