Alex Ellis (St Catharines, Ontario, Canada) has won the Jim Russell “Race of Champions” title after winning the fifth and sixth rounds respectively at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA yesterday (August 6). 2010 Jim Russell Future Driver Ellis now looks ahead to making his Firestone Indy Lights début at the Infineon Raceway when he contests the Carneros 100 at Sonoma on August 22 – his spectacular prize for triumphing in the Jim Russell “shoot-out” races.

Edoardo Mortara wins Macau Grand Prix

Edoardo Mortara (Signature) has won the traditional Macau Grand Prix, the world’s most prestigious Formula 3 race. Together with Jean Karl Vernay (Signature), the Signature team, a regular entrant in the Formula 3 Euro Series, scored a 1-2 at the 6.12 kilometres long Guia circuit.

56th Macau Grand Prix

The best-placed driver from the Formula 3 Euro Series, Jean Karl Vernay (Signature, 2:10.081 minutes) claimed second place on the grid for the qualification race of the Macau Grand Prix. In the second qualifying session at the 6.12 kilometres long track in Macau, that allowed for faster lap times than the first session, only Marcus Ericsson (Tom’s, 2:10.042 minutes) was faster than the Frenchman.

Jean Karl Vernay (Signature) decided the finale of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg in his favour. In an exciting race, he overtook erstwhile leader Christopher Zanella (Motopark Academy) on the final lap.

Bianchi defended first place on to his ninth victory of the season

Even as the new champion in the Formula 3 Euro Series, Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix) keeps on winning. At the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, he beat his team-mate Valtteri Bottas (ART Grand Prix) by 7.516 seconds.

For the second time in a row, Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport) has managed to win a Formula 3 Euro Series race on Sunday. At the 2.3 kilometres long Norisring, the 20-year old German claimed victory from Jean Karl Vernay (Signature) and Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix).
