Citroen’s Mikko Hirvonen holds the lead at the end of the second day of Rally de Portugal and following the cancellation of the repeat loop he will now take a 36.3 second advantage into Saturday’s third leg.
His seventh win in Spain and his fifth of the season
Sebastien Loeb has won RallyRACC-Rally de Espana to edge clear of Mikko Hirvonen in the race for the 2011 World Rally Championship crown. Driving a Citroen DS3 WRC, Loeb maintained his overnight advantage for his seventh win in Spain and his fifth of the season alongside co-driver Daniel Elena.

By 2010 Rally Mexico winning co-driver Daniel Elena: “This stage is the longest of the rally. It’s a technical stage with changing of rhythm. It’s an interesting stage because some parts are narrow and slow and after it is very, very fast. It’s a good, good stage but again you have the problem if you are first on the road because you are cleaning the road and it really is not easy and the others are trying to push.”
Sebastien Ogier rolled his Citroen C4 WRC car in the first test of the day
Citroen’s Sebastien Ogier has crashed out of the Wales Rally GB in the opening stage this morning. Ogier went off the road near the end of the 14.78 kilometre Radnor Forest stage [SS8] rolling his Citroen C4 WRC car in the process. It has since been confirmed he will not be able to re-join tomorrow under the SupeRally.
