Team boss Luis Perez-Sala has admitted the HRT dream is over.
After three seasons at the back of the F1 grid, the Spanish backmarker has folded, even though official confirmation has been lacking so far. “It was impossible to go on,” Sala, a former Minardi driver who was brought in by new owners Thesan Capital to run the team this year, told El Mundo Deportivo newspaper.

Better known then as ‘Hispania’, the Spanish team was founded by Adrian Campos after former FIA president Max Mosley opened up three new places in pitlane for the start of the 2010 season.

Alain Prost believes it is “absolutely impossible” for F1′s newest teams to ever break the dominance of the sport’s top five.
He is referring to small privateers Caterham (formerly Lotus), Marussia (formerly Virgin) and HRT (formerly Hispania), who were enticed into formula one in 2010 following the departures of manufacturers Honda, BMW and Toyota.

In a question and answer session on HRT’s official website, the team said it will take “two years” to move away from the back of the grid. Technical boss Geoff Willis however said this will only happen if the outfit formerly known as Hispania increases its resources and staff numbers.

A female driver conducted a secret formula one test with Renault two weeks ago, according to international publications.
Spain’s Marca and Italy’s Italiaracing report that 31-year-old Spaniard Maria de Villota, the daughter of former F1 driver Emilio de Villota, was at the wheel of a two-year old Renault R29.

Cosworth is staying in formula one and designing a V6 engine even though it only has two customers for 2012.
Team Lotus switched to Renault power last year and Williams is following suit for 2012, leaving struggling Virgin and Hispania as the only Cosworth teams on the grid. The independent Northampton based engine maker said when it returned to F1 in 2010 that it needed a minimum number of customers to make its programme viable.

F1′s struggling teams Virgin and HRT are making plans for the future.
At Virgin, now working with ousted Renault engineer Pat Symonds and McLaren, there are also plans for a new bespoke factory, and the big rumour is that it could be built at Silverstone. The Daily Mail reports that meetings with Silverstone circuit chiefs are taking place this weekend.
