Atech Grand Prix becomes Bamboo Engineering

British team joins forces with GP3 team Atech

GP3 Series organisers are pleased to announce that Atech Grand Prix and Bamboo Engineering have joined forces and will compete in GP3 for the 2013-2015 seasons under the name of the Silverstone Technology Park-based team. Founded in 2009, Bamboo Engineering have competed in the prestigious World Touring Car Championship. 19 year old British racer Alice Powell clinched her first GP3 Series Drivers’ Championship point in the season finale at Monza this weekend.

First Point for Powell and a Female Driver in GP3 Season Finale at Monza

She is also the first female driver to score a point in the Series, making history at the iconic Italian track. It was Alice’s first time at the Autodromo Nationale Monza and her weekend kicked off with free practice on Friday. It was a productive session as Alice learnt the track and worked with her Status Grand Prix team to set-up the car and get to grips with the hard tyre option. She ended the day in a comfortable 12th position on the time sheets.

Mitch Evans – GP3 Series 2012 Champion! The final round of the 2012 season was a weekend you could not script. Ahead of Race 2, only one man could stop the New Zealander claiming the GP3 Series crown and that was Daniel Abt, who had to win the race with a no score from Evans to steal the honours.

GP3: Abt sole challenger in title fight with win in Monza

German rookie triumphs as Series leader Mitch Evans fails to score

Two wins in seven days. Daniel Abt claimed his maiden win in Spa and now pockets a further 25 points at Race 1 in Monza, the final round of the season. The win was vital for the German, as it has kept his championship hopes alive in a race where Series leader Mitch Evans failed to finish, and Antonio Felix Da Costa and Aaro Vainio didn’t score, thus ending their championship chances with one race remaining. Series leader Mitch Evans made the best possible start to his weekend by claiming the vital four points on offer for pole position for Round 7 of the GP3 Series 2012. GP3: Felix Da Costa records double win in Budapest thriller

Carlin’s Antonio Felix Da Costa becomes first driver in GP3 history to claim double victory

This is one weekend Portuguese driver Antonio Felix Da Costa won’t forget in hurry. After winning Race 1 yesterday, the Carlin driver started from eighth on the grid in a race dominated by strategy. He fought his way impressively through the field in the latter stages to produce a magical win, becoming the first driver in GP3 history to achieve a double victory during the race weekend. Patric Niederhauser (Jenzer Motorsport) and Tamas Pal Kiss (Atech CRS GP) finished second and third.

GP3: Felix Da Costa rockets to Budapest victory

Carlin’s Antonio Felix Da Costa wins in style at the Hungaroring

The smile couldn’t be bigger on Antonio Felix Da Costa’s face. After starting from P2 on the grid, the Portuguese ace made the perfect getaway to claim the lead and set off into the distance to claim a very welcome 25 points, plus a further two for fastest lap. After the nightmare of two non-scores in Hockenheim for the Carlin driver, Hungary has been a happy hunting ground so far for Felix Da Costa. Daniel Abt (Lotus GP) and Mitch Evans (MW Arden) finished second and third.

Ellinas leads the way in Free Practice at Hockenheim

Marussia Manor Racing’s Tio Ellinas fastest in Germany

Round 5 of the GP3 Series got underway in Hockenheim as Free Practice was run in the early evening, making a change for the drivers who normally take to the track early on Friday. After the rain had bucketed down throughout the day, the track was declared wet for practice.
