Pastor Maldonado has pulled out a crushing, lights to flag domination of his rivals to record an easy victory in today’s feature race in Istanbul, leading home Davide Valsecchi and Sam Bird by almost 20 seconds to put himself in the driver’s seat in this year’s championship.

The story so far…
The third round of the 2010 GP2 Series takes place this weekend in Istanbul, Turkey. After a stellar performance in the opening round in Barcelona earlier this month – with Jules Bianchi in pole position, and Charles Pic and Fabio Leimer race winners, the brilliant 2010 GP2 rookies were eventually tamed in Monaco and the games changed with more experienced drivers claiming back the spotlight: while Racing Engineering’s Dani Clos snatched pole position, Sergio Perez at Addax took Race 1 win and Jerome d’Ambrosio at Dams claimed victory in Race 2.
Fabio Leimer has stormed to victory in today’s sprint race in Barcelona in a lights to flag display, which saw him easily control the pace throughout the event: the Swiss driver was never headed, from pole position to finish ahead of Luiz Razia and Pastor Maldonado.
