Bernie Ecclestone has not given up on F1′s scheduled return to the Nurburgring in 2013.
The financially-embattled venue is scheduled to host the July race, but it is also possible Hockenheim could step in at the last minute. “I am doing my best to make sure we do not lose formula one in Germany,” Ecclestone, 82, is quoted by the Allgemeine Zeitung.

The opening races of this season’s world championship will be crucial, according to Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali.
In 2012, runner-up Ferrari had a dire start to its campaign, while eventual champion Red Bull also took some time to establish its full potential. But with the sweeping rule changes of 2014 looming large, Domenicali said the dynamics of this season’s battle will be different.

The monocoque of two more F1 teams’ 2013 cars have passed the mandatory FIA crash tests.
According to Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport, one of them is Mercedes’ W04, to be raced next year by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. The report said the silver single seater will have a new and smaller gearbox, totally different sidepods for the Coanda exhaust, and rear suspension designed to be flexible to geometry changes if required to suit Pirelli’s new tyres.

Ferrari will develop the aerodynamics of its 2013 car exclusively in Cologne.
After encountering problems with its Maranello facility this year, Ferrari’s wind tunnel will be closed next year until August. International reports, including in El Mundo Deportivo newspaper (Spain) and Kolner Express (Germany), said Ferrari has now turned its attention to Cologne, where the former F1 team Toyota rents out its state-of-the-art facility to clients.

Eleven rounds make 2013 season. Abu Dhabi hosts final round
The GP2 Series™ organisers have revealed their 2013 calendar today which will consist of eleven rounds in total, all support events of the official Formula OneTM World Championship. Seven rounds will be held in Europe whilst four overseas events have been added, making it once again an international Series.

Abu Dhabi to host GP3 season finale in 2013
GP3 Series™ organisers have today unveiled the provisional 2013 calendar which will be made of eight rounds in total. Seven rounds have been confirmed for the season which will run alongside the Formula 1™ World Championship, with an eighth standalone race weekend mid-June (venue to be announced at a later date). The calendar features an exciting new venue for GP3 with Abu Dhabi hosting the final race of the season.

Sebastian Vettel insists he is not bothered that some regard Fernando Alonso as a better driver.
Recently, after a confidential post-season survey involving all 12 team bosses, Spaniard Alonso was voted the standout driver of the season, despite German Vettel winning his third consecutive championship with Red Bull.
