Gerard Lopez, the owner of the Lotus team, has played down rumours Romain Grosjean could be dropped.
Before the Frenchman got involved in yet another incident this weekend – a high-speed qualifying clash with Pedro de la Rosa – whispers in the Interlagos paddock suggested Grosjean’s future was less than secure.
Lotus F1 owner Gerard Lopez has blamed “angry” potential partners for spreading rumours about the team’s financial situation.
Gerard Lopez, the owner of the newly-winning F1 team Lotus, said he cannot guarantee Genii will remain committed to the sport.
In an interview with Germany’s Welt newspaper, the Luxembourger laid out many of F1′s problems, including the scarcity of sponsors. And amid rumours the Enstone based team has been in talks with potential investors, Lopez was asked if the investment company is staying in F1 despite the problems.

Turun Sanomat newspaper reveals that boss Eric Boullier is so new to winning as a constructor in F1 that he had no idea what to do before mounting the podium for the team’s trophy. “I was a little lost with the protocol, but fortunately Fernando Alonso was helping and advising what I had to do,” smiled the Frenchman.
There are paddock rumours that F1 team Lotus’ owner Genii may soon be sold.
The German language Speed Week said it has heard that the likely buyer is from Malaysia. In 2010 and 2011, Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes’ Caterham team was called Lotus, until a resolution was found to the F1 naming dispute with Group Lotus.
