2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, round six of 13
Juho Hänninen has underlined his status as the most successful driver in the six-year history of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge by winning the Geko Ypres Rally in Belgium on Saturday, the first Finn to do so since the late Henri Toivonen in 1984.

Intercontinental Rally Challenge champions past and present suffered differing fortunes on the opening day of the Geko Ypres Rally in Belgium. While Juho Hänninen, IRC title winner in 2010, impressed by reaching the overnight halt leading by 26.8s, defending champion Andreas Mikkelsen’s hopes of a first IRC victory on asphalt have suffered a huge blow after he went off the road into a ditch on stage five, losing more than one minute in the process.

Thierry Neuville has won Rallye Sanremo following a thrilling finish to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge round on the Italian Riviera this afternoon. Driving a Team Peugeot Belgium-Luxembourg 207 Super 2000, Neuville surged ahead on the demanding asphalt event with one stage remaining, having cancelled out an overnight deficit of 16.6s.

Intercontinental Rally Challenge, round 7 of 11
Jan Kopecký has claimed his first victory in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge for more than a year after triumphing on a thrilling Barum Czech Rally Zlín. The ŠKODA Motorsport ace, roared on by approximately 300,000 home fans, beat Freddy Loix by 1.2s, the closest finish in the history of the IRC. Team-mate Juho Hänninen took third to make it a ŠKODA podium lockout.

Thierry Neuville will take an advantage of almost nine seconds into day two of Tour de Corse-E.Leclerc following his dominant start to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event around the town of Calvi on Corsica’s picturesque north west coast today (Thursday).
Loix celebrated his 41st birthday in his native Belgium last week. Although he has yet to finalise his programme for 2012 he says he has no intention of easing off the throttle.
