As driver coach for Firestone Indy Lights program
Bentham (40) previously managed Driver Development for Jensen MotorSport during the 2007 ChampCar Atlantic season, working with drivers Tom Sutherland and Frankie Muniz. Bentham’s resume also includes his Head of Driver Development role at Forsythe Championship Racing, where he developed successful drivers including Robert Wickens, John Edwards, and newly announced IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe.

Atlantic Championship News & Notes
After a history-making 2009 Atlantic Championship season in which she became the winningest woman in series history, Simona De Silvestro had a successful two-day test in an HVM Racing/Team Stargate Worlds IndyCar at Sebring International Raceway last week with an eye toward a possible run in the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series. “She was very impressive,” said HVM Racing owner Keith Wiggins.

Team Stargate Worlds and HVM Racing will test Swiss driver Simona De Silvestro, a four-time winner in the 2009 Atlantic Championship, at Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway December 8 and 9. The test will be a combined effort with Team Stargate Worlds, the group that De Silvestro finished third with in this year’s Atlantic standings.

Jensen MotorSport lead driver Markus Niemela scored seven top-fives in 2009
Owner/driver Eric Jensen has been named the 2009 Cooper Tires presents the Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda Team Owner of the Year. Jensen MotorSport and the Jensen name have been mainstays in the Atlantic Championship paddock for many of the series’ 36 years of competition.

Muniz finishes in eighth despite first lap incident
Clouds greeted the participants at this weekend’s Cooper Tires Presents The Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda qualifying day at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, Ohio but by the end of the weekend Team Stargate Worlds would be all smiles.

Muniz earns his second Hard Charger award
The race for the 2009 Cooper Tires Presents The Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda title was turned uncomfortably tight for Team Stargate Worlds driver Simona De Silvestro after the first race of the Harrah’s Autobahn Grand Prix presented by Mazda double-header weekend.

For Team Stargate Worlds the last three weeks have been hectic
With the team announcement and unveiling a couple of weeks ago, a newly redesigned website, the addition of new crew members and a recent test session at Buttonwillow Raceway, the team showed no signs of fatigue as they arrived for the first Atlantic Championship series test at the 2.034 mile Palm Beach International Raceway road course.
