A third-generation formula one driver would be “fantastic”, the sport’s chief executive Bernie Ecclestone has admitted.
Actually, the possibility is now quite real, with 1996 world champion Damon Hill’s 22-year-old son Josh to contest the European F3 championship this year. The winner of this year’s series will get a test with the fabled F1 team Ferrari.

Dutch team get entry for the Series in 2013 and sign first driver
GP2 Series organisers are pleased to announce that MP Motorsport have been allocated an entry for the 2013 season. The Dutch outfit will join the GP2 field next year and will run their GP2/11 cars for the first time during the opening 2013 pre-season testing session of the Series.

Canadian Gianmarco Raimondo will be in the Spanish team’s cars
Just five weeks after the last race of the 2012 GP2 Series all the teams are back in action in Barcelona for the first of the two annual post-season tests. Racing Engineering will be giving four drivers the opportunity to drive their cars on the 4.655 km Spanish circuit that is a traditional venue for out of season testing. On Tuesday the 30th of October the Brazilian André Negrão and Canadian Gianmarco Raimondo will be in the Spanish team’s cars and on the following day, Wednesday the 31st, it will be the turn of Dutchman Nigel Melker and Argentinian Facundo Regalia.

Three contenders remain as title race goes into season finale at Monza
Markus Pommer took a dominant lights-to-flag victory during today’s (Sunday) second Formula Two race at the Hungaroring, finishing ahead of Mathéo Tuscher and Dino Zamparelli to push the championship battle into a season finale at Monza.

20-year-old leads from British duo Zamparelli and Bacheta in second session
Alex Fontana was yet again the man to beat during today’s (Friday) second Formula Two practice session at the Hungaroring, with the 20-year-old opting for a short six-lap run to set his best time ahead of British pair Dino Zamparelli and Luciano Bacheta.

MW Arden is delighted to announce GP3 driver, Matias Laine, will be joining the team for the GP3 2012 Season.
The talented young GP3 driver (21) is joining the MW Arden team subsequent to his rookie season in 2011. A Formula Renault 2.0 and Euro Series Formula 3 graduate, Matias tested for the team at the end of 2010, where he achieved the top 5 on his second day with the team.

Scuderia Toro Rosso announces all-new driver line-up for 2012
It will be the first time since the team’s 2006 debut that it will begin the year with an all new line-up. Both drivers have come through the Red Bull Junior Driver programme and the decision to promote Daniel and Jean-Eric to Scuderia Toro Rosso was taken by the team in conjunction with Red Bull.

Andrea Caldarelli, who is currently lying second in the drivers’ classification, is going to Japan bringing his season in the GP3 Series to a close. The Italian, who quickly integrated into Tech 1 Racing, has been replaced by Dutch driver, Thomas Hylkema.
