The third edition of the Team Canada Scholarship will grow to include two young Canadian drivers.

The focus will continue to be the world renown Formula Ford Festival held at Brands Hatch, England in late October. After a very successful debut in 2011 with the first Canadian on pole for the final and leading the early laps, the program continued in 2012 and once again showcased the talent that Canada has in the junior formula car ranks.

The flights are booked, hotel rooms reserved, rental car arranged, and all the details taken care of for the second trip to the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch.

James Cole is the latest driver to confirm he will be competing in the 2011 FIA Formula Two Championship, after a standout performance at the recent pre-season tests at Silverstone and Snetterton. The 22-year-old Briton impressed by frequently running in the top ten over both days and even topping a session at the new Snetterton 300 circuit yesterday (Wednesday), despite his previous lack of experience in the Williams JPH1B F2 car.
For the 2010 season
American teenager finished fourth in the Formula Ford Festival and ninth in Walter Hayes Trophy. American Brett Smrz took another step towards a successful career in motorsports over the past several weeks, racing a Formula Ford in England as part of the prestigious Team USA Scholarship.
Junior formula car standout Connor De Phillippi is the latest American to make his mark in European open-wheel racing, following his historic Walter Hayes Trophy win this past weekend (October 31 – November 1) at the Silverstone Circuit in England.
Josef Newgarden’s hopes of a repeat win at the historic Formula Ford Festival in England unfortunately ended prematurely over the weekend (October 17-18). The British Formula Ford runner-up and Rookie of the Year failed to finish a lap in the Final, when an overheating engine forced the American into pitlane after a superb start.
Team Owner Ricardo Juncos and Engineer Ernesto Gonella of Juncos Racing will head overseas tomorrow to attend this weekend’s Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch in Kent, England.
In only a few days (September 27-28) many top Formula Ford 1600 drivers will gather at the renowned Mosport International Raceway road course just east of Toronto, Ont., for the third annual eFormulaCarNews.com CanAm Cup.
