Three podium places and a front-row grid position are the highlights for the Sauber F1 Team after 13 out of 20 races in the FIA Formula One World Championship 2012. Last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix saw the team reach the 100-point mark – that’s already 56 more than their total for the whole of the 2011 season.

The mantra is oft-repeated in operations meetings for the Grand Prix of America at Port Imperial. With a planned Formula One World Championship race in Weehawken and West New York, N.J., in June 2013, everyone involved knows the challenge of creating a major international event. Dennis Robinson, chief operations officer, was part of the team that attracted the 2014 Super Bowl to New Jersey. Now he’s building a bigger event.

At the invitation of Tiago Monteiro and José Guedes, the Vice President of Renault, Carlos Antunes Tavares, paid a private visit to the Portuguese team’s facilities in Valongo, Oceanational Motor SA. The Ocean Racing Technology team takes part in the GP2 and GP3 Championship Series, both of which feed into the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Season in the sun…
The FIA Formula One World Championship is taking its summer break now with four weekends free from racing, and the factories will shut down for two weeks. With 11 Grands Prix completed and a further nine to come, the Sauber F1 Team drivers left us a few thoughts before they disappeared for their holidays.

Tyre compounds revealed for Bahrain, Spain and Monaco

In Bahrain, the P Zero White medium tyre and P Zero Yellow soft tyre will be raced (the same nomination as Australia and China so far this year). In Spain, the P Zero Silver hard and P Zero Yellow soft will be used: the first time that this combination makes an appearance this year. Finally, the P Zero Yellow soft and P Zero Red supersoft will be seen in Monte Carlo – with the softest tyre in Pirelli’s 2012 range making its debut this season.

Williams rejoins Renault for its engine partnership.

The Williams F1 Team unveiled its 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship season entry, the Williams Renault FW34, at the Jerez circuit in Spain today. This year marks the team’s 35th year competing in the sport which it will do with a revitalised line-up.

Unveiling & Roll-out
Today, Monday, the Sauber F1 Team launches its new car for the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship. Drivers Kamui Kobayashi (25) and Sergio Pérez (22) unveil the Sauber C31-Ferrari at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Spain, where on Tuesday official Formula One pre-season testing will get underway. For filming purposes the C31 will cover its initial laps today.

At Porsche experience center

Huddersfield racing driver Daniel Lloyd benefited from some unique pre-season preparation on Saturday, 21st January, when the Porsche Experience Centre hosted its fourth annual ‘Get Race Fit’ event – featuring special guest, FIA Formula One World Championship star Mark Webber.
