The team, which itself may now close
Following today’s announcement
The FAZZT Race Team is pleased with the announcement that an agreement was reached in order to return the Edmonton Indy race to the IZOD IndyCar Series 2011 season schedule. Quotes from the team are presented below for the use by the media.
In 13th place in the standings
Starting 19th on the grid, FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani finished 14th in Saturday night’s 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series finale at the Florida 2.414-km Homestead-Miami Speedway oval track to close the inaugural season of the FAZZT Race Team in 13th place overall in the driver standings. FAZZT played a strategy game in the race when they did not pit during a caution at the halfway point while the leaders did.
Homestead-Miami pre-race report
This is it, the finale event of the 2010, 17-race IZOD IndyCar Series schedule that will take place this weekend at the 2.414-kilometer Homestead-Miami Speedway oval. For FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani, this will be his second race at the South Florida oval track, but his first since 2000 when he qualified fourth and finished ninth as a rookie in the Champ Car Series.
IZOD IndyCar Series race: 16 of 17
Drivers of the IZOD IndyCar Series will compete this weekend in the penultimate race of the 2010 season at the 2.414-km Twin Ring Motegi tri-oval located 130 kilometers north of Tokyo in Japan. For FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani, this will be his fourth visit at the oval track, but his first in Japan since 2002 where he posted his career-best oval track result with a second-place finish. The Canadian driver has scored three poles in 37 oval track starts: Brazil in 2000; Fontana, California in 2001; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2003.
Against all odds, Brazilian Helio Castroneves won the race crossing the finish line more than 13 seconds ahead of polesitter Ed Carpenter. Team Penske’s race strategy worked its magic during his fuel economy run near the end of the event as all his opponents had to pit for a splash of fuel in the closing moments of the 200-lap affair. Dan Wheldon finished third ahead of Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchitti. Marco Andretti came in sixth, followed by Scott Dixon and Will Power.
The team first visit to the tri-oval
The drivers of the IZOD IndyCar Series will participate in their third consecutive weekend of racing this Saturday at the 2.086-km Kentucky Speedway tri-oval located in Sparta, Kentucky. Once again, drivers will only have 60 minutes of practice on Friday morning to set their cars for the lone qualifying session scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. later that day.

Alex Tagliani 4th
Dario Franchitti always is looking to the “next” in the IZOD IndyCar Series: Next race, next victory, next championship. For the student of motorsports history, however, it’s important to put his victory in the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio presented by Westfield Insurance into perspective – with a little “next” worked in.
Race: 12 of 17
FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani finished 22nd overall in Friday’s practice leading to Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. Tagliani’s quickest lap was posted on the 19th of 22 laps he completed today, when he went around the 3.634-kilometer Mid-Ohio road course in 1 minute 09.2814 seconds for an average speed of 188.824 km/h.
