Ferrari’s 2011 car will be launched officially in the week proceeding the first group winter test at the end of January. That was one of the revelations made by Luca di Montezemolo on Tuesday as he met with the Italian press at Fiorano for a traditional pre-Christmas media event.

Staff changes as the result of Ferrari’s failed championship campaign in 2010 are on the horizon, according to Italian reports. Autosprint magazine reports that it is “not a secret” that the man most directly in the spotlight is Australian Chris Dyer, Ferrari’s chief engineer and in charge of race strategies.

Criticism for Massa after saying title chances over
Felipe Massa’s engine usage for the 2010 season ticked over to a ninth unit in Singapore, resulting in a grid penalty. That news alone could be interpreted as a potential threat to the title chances of his teammate Fernando Alonso, who is now just 11 points behind leader Mark Webber having won the past two races from pole.

After encountering difficulties with the F10′s latest developments at Spa recently, the Italian team finally got the layout working optimally at Monza, where Fernando Alonso won from pole position.

Mark Webber on Saturday morning suffered yet another technical problem in preparation for the Italian grand prix.
In the final practice session before qualifying, the Australian’s Red Bull ground to a halt at Monza – just as it had due to a loss of water pressure on Friday. Team boss Christian Horner said the championship challenger had suffered a “complete loss of power”, amid suggestions it was an engine problem.

Championship chargers McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari appear to all have competitive packages at Monza for this weekend’s Italian grand prix. McLaren was fastest in the morning practice session, Red Bull in the afternoon, while Ferrari’s F10 was just hundredths of a second off the pace.

Felipe Massa on Thursday said he overshot his starting box on the Spa grid two weeks ago due to a visibility problem. The FIA is currently investigating how it did not notice the Brazilian driver’s Ferrari get a head-start in the Belgian grand prix.

Ferrari not happy with 2013 engine formula
Ferrari had a tough race at Spa-Francorchamps but could be set for a stronger showing this weekend, according to team boss Stefano Domenicali. The Italian team, whilst trying to recover its championship deficit, brought updates for its F10 car to Belgium two weeks ago that resulted in a backwards step in terms of competitiveness.

F1′s governing body is investigating how Felipe Massa escaped penalty despite getting a head-start in last Sunday’s Belgian grand prix. As the cars lined up on the Spa-Francorchamps grid, BBC commentator Martin Brundle noticed that the Brazilian’s Ferrari was about “two metres” ahead of its starting box.

Sauber is yet another team considering removing the F-duct system from its car for the forthcoming Italian grand prix. McLaren intends to have a non-F-duct rear wing and engine cover at Monza next weekend, with simulations showing that weight saving and aerodynamic efficiency could mean a conventional setup is the more competitive option for the high speed circuit.
