Pastor Maldonado could be thrown out of the Belgian grand prix for an incident during qualifying at wet Spa-Francorchamps.
After the Williams driver collided lightly with Lewis Hamilton as the McLaren passed him at the end of Q2, Venezuelan rookie Maldonado crashed into his British rival as they then climbed the hill to Eau Rouge. “There should never be an incident after the red lights but unfortunately there was,” said Hamilton.

As reported earlier this year, the ‘DRS’ overtaking system will be banned completely at Spa-Francorchamps’ fearsome Eau Rouge this weekend.
The BBC on Monday night reported that the governing FIA has informed the teams of the ban on safety grounds through the famous up-and-down, left-and-right sweeper. At other circuits, drivers are free to trigger the adjustable rear wing in order to increase top speed throughout practice and qualifying sessions.

FIA bans DRS for Monaco tunnel and Eau Rouge
Four races will pass before the FIA clamps down on the aggressive blowing of off-throttle exhaust gases. That is the claim of Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport, reporting that the reprieve has been extended to include Spain this weekend as well as Monaco, Canada and Valencia.

Tobias Hegewald has continued his superb run of form today at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, by taking a stunning maiden pole for tomorrow’s first F2 race. The German, who has topped every session so far in Spa, set his best time of 2:08.890s shortly after a red flag period to recover Sebastian Hohenthal’s stricken car from the top of Eau Rouge.
A more obvious case of a driver taking an “unfair advantage” went unpunished at the Belgian grand prix a week ago, according to David Coulthard.
