Sebastian Vettel has played down any suggestion he has set as a career target his friend and mentor Michael Schumacher’s record of seven world titles and 91 wins. At the weekend in Dusseldorf, the pair duly won their fifth consecutive ‘Nation’s Cup’ crown at the Race of Champions.

On the sidelines of the Race of Champions event in Dusseldorf, a reporter for the German news agency SID heard the Red Bull driver admit he was too busy with media and sponsor commitments after winning his first title a year ago.

Multiple Formula 1 grand prix winner David Coulthard will compete against a star-studded field at December’s Race Of Champions
Coulthard won a total of 13 F1 grands prix, finishing no less than five times in the world championship top three in over a decade at the top. The Scotsman, who now commentates for the BBC and competes in DTM, joins three F1 world champions in the field for ROC 2011 in Düsseldorf.

Russian Formula 1 star Vitaly Petrov has signed up to compete at the 2011 Race Of Champions in Düsseldorf
Petrov, who races for the Lotus Renault GP team, will become the first driver from Eastern Europe to compete at the event. The Russian joins a star-studded field that includes three F1 world champions for ROC 2011 at Düsseldorf’s ESPRIT arena on December 3-4.

“Final scans for the head done today, no problems”
Heikki Kovalainen will spend another week recovering from a head injury sustained recently. The Lotus driver was ordered to bed early last week after medical checks showed he suffered a heavy concussion when he crashed an Audi R8 during the Race of Champions event in Dusseldorf.
Reigning DTM Champion Timo Scheider and his fellow Audi driver Martin Tomczyk will have to demonstrate their driving skills in an event differing massively from what they are used to. 
The Motorpark Oschersleben will host this week the last collective test before the first race of the season, that will start in two weeks in Hockenheim.
