Marco Wittmann was the benchmark in DTM qualifying at Nürburgring
At the 3.629 kilometres long sprint circuit in the Eifel, the BMW driver topped the time sheets with 1:22.780 minutes. Behind the current DTM points’ leader, Audi drivers Edoardo Mortara, Mike Rockenfeller, Jamie Green, Timo Scheider and Miguel Molina follow in second to sixth place. The fastest Mercedes-Benz driver was Spaniard Daniel Juncadella in seventh place.
The newly founded DTM Driver Association (DTMDA) set to work at the sixth race of the 2014 DTM season in Spielberg.
In the future, the role of the DTM Driver Association, which operates independently of the individual manufacturers, is to improve cooperation between drivers, the organiser of the series, the ITR, and the German Motor Sport Association (DMSB).

Racing where others spend their holidays
This weekend, the most popular international touring-car series is going to race at Spielberg, Austria, with Marco Wittmann who is contesting his only second DTM season already having secured two race wins and travelling to the Red Bull Ring as championship leader.
With two victories in the last three races he is now the main rival of Carlos Sainz
Back in single-seaters after two years in the DTM, Roberto Merhi heads to the summer break in second place in the general classification, as well as top rookie. With a podium result in the first race of the season, the Zeta Corse driver is now the man to beat in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
The ninth round of the 2014 DTM season will be held from 27th to 28th September at Zandvoort, Netherlands.
The Chinese round that originally was supposed to be held at Guangzhou, on this weekend, had to be cancelled as the modifications necessary for erecting the circuit proved to be far more extensive than planned.
World RX of Canada is the seventh round of the season and will take place at Trois-Rivieres from 7-8 August.
