Drivers go missing on Bahrain grid
Many F1 drivers were missing from the grid in the minutes before Sunday’s season opening Bahrain GP.
Global interest in the new 2010 season had been sky high, but reporters, television cameras and VIPs searched hard to locate F1′s most famous faces in the tense moments of preparation prior to the formation lap.

A lot is up in the air
The chequered flag will wave on the 2009 season on Sunday, but the fates of several drivers are still uncertain. 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, having agreed to terminate his Ferrari contract to make way for Fernando Alonso, is linked with a move to McLaren or Toyota, but is believed to have run into trouble in terms of his wage demands.

Barrichello not guaranteed future at Brawn

Even two wins in three races has not been enough for Rubens Barrichello to secure a definite future at the Brawn team. The British team makes no secret of wanting to keep championship leader Jenson Button on board for 2010, but as for the longest-serving driver in F1 history, chief executive Nick Fry answered at Monza: “We’ll see.

Norbert Haug has contradicted McLaren’s team boss by confirming that talks with other drivers have taken place. With Heikki Kovalainen’s place for 2010 not secured, Martin Whitmarsh had insisted at Valencia last weekend: “At the moment we have not had, nor are we in, conversations with any other drivers.”
Mario Theissen insists the withdrawal of BMW at the end of the year will not also end the formula one careers of the team’s current race drivers. 
Michael Schumacher on Wednesday announced he is looking forward to the challenge of replacing his injured former Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa at forthcoming grands prix.

Rivals say Alguersuari not ready for F1 debut

Formula one drivers on Thursday questioned whether Jaime Alguersuari is ready to make his formula one debut. The 19-year-old Spaniard is set not only to become the youngest ever grand prix starter in Hungary, but with only two straight-line tests under his belt, he must also be the least experienced.
Formula one drivers have just enjoyed their second consecutive weekend without the distraction of a grand prix. 
Having secured a spot on the 2010 grid, new formula one entrant Team US F1 expects to select drivers for the North Carolina-based outfit “pretty soon”. 
Fernando Alonso on Tuesday gave the strongest indication yet that he sees his future with Ferrari. 
On the face of it, Ferrari’s race drivers fully support the Scuderia’s threat to quit formula one at the end of the season.
