Schumacher and Green claim victory in Munich

The DTM provided an extraordinary motoring show in Munich’s Olympiastadion on Saturday. In an action-packed relay competition of the three manufacturers Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Ralf Schumacher and Norisring winner Jamie Green with the DTM Mercedes AMG C-Coupé beat two times’ DTM champion Timo Scheider and Adrien Tambay with the Audi A5 DTM in a very close final.

Lola-Mazdas on front row; BMW Team RLL’s Werner takes GT pole

Dyson Racing’s Guy Smith captured pole position Friday for the inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix with a lap of 1:27.750 around the new 12-turn, 2.1-mile street circuit. Smith was quickest in each of Friday’s three sessions for the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón in his Mazda-powered Lola coupe.

Having bid farewell to Formula One, BMW will intensify its involvement in GT and touring car racing in the forthcoming year. The company released details of its 2010 motorsport programme on Saturday at the BMW Sports Trophy Award Ceremony in Munich (DE). The BMW M3 GT2 will see action in selected GT races, primarily the 24-hour classics.
