Leimer controls Sakhir action-packed Feature Race
Fabio Leimer continues to impress at the Bahrain International Circuit: in today’s feature race, the Swiss ace took the win from pole position thanks to a strong drive and a good strategy. Series rival Stefano Coletti finished second ahead of rookie Alexander Rossi.

Racing Engineering driver stuns the rest of the field in qualifying session
Fabio Leimer has once again proclaimed himself as the man to beat this weekend as he dominated today’s qualifying session at Bahrain International Circuit. The Swiss driver set an impressive laptime of 1:39.427, nine tenths clear of Marcus Ericsson. Felipe Nasr finished third.

Reigning Auto GP Champion Adrian Quaife-Hobbs got some excellent news this week.
The British racer, who cruised to title last season with the Super Nova Team, will be making his GP2 debut in the series’ first 2013 test at Jerez de la Frontera. After having left a strong impression in the last Auto GP session of 2012, Adrian reached a full-season agreement with MP Motorsport to partner another Auto GP graduate, Daniel De Jong, in this season’s GP2 competition.

Dutch team get entry for the Series in 2013 and sign first driver
GP2 Series organisers are pleased to announce that MP Motorsport have been allocated an entry for the 2013 season. The Dutch outfit will join the GP2 field next year and will run their GP2/11 cars for the first time during the opening 2013 pre-season testing session of the Series.

Auto GP racers impress in GP2 test
Five drivers in the test’s roster were coming from the Auto GP championship, started and promoted by Enzo Coloni. Daniel De Jong was probably the most surprising man in the pack. The Dutchman, who raced for the MP team and scored 5th place this season, drove for Scuderia Coloni. The team welcomed him warmly and was eager to provide him with a chance to express his full potential. He clocked the second fastest lap of the first day before rounding out the top-5 in Day 2 at his first time driving a GP2 Dallara with wet weather tires.

Sergey Sirotkin became the last winner of the 2012 Auto GP season in Sonoma
The Russian driver of Euronova Racing was the first to cross the line in Sunday’s Race 2 after a race that saw him as the undisputed leader. After that the early part was led by reverse poleman Antonio Spavone and saw the Safety-Car deployed to remove Sakurai’s car (the Japanese driver stalled on the grid due to a clutch issue), Sirotkin effectively took the lead from lap 5 on, when a lightning quick pit-stop from the Euronova crew and a very fast out lap allowed him to climb from P3 to the lead. From then on, the driver from Russia lapped steadily in the low 1’28” range, a pace that nobody but Quaife-Hobbs could match.
