The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team today unveiled its 2013 Formula One car, the F1 W04, at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.

Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton arrived at the official photo call at the wheel of two Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Black Series, the fifth Black Series model from Mercedes-AMG. Inspired by the SLS AMG GT3 race car, the new car offers a blend of breathtaking design, outstanding driving dynamics and lightweight construction in line with the “AMG Lightweight Performance” strategy.

Daimler AG plans to reorganize its Formula 1 activities. In this context, Daimler has signed a letter of intent with Austrian investor and motorsport manager Toto Wolff, according to which Wolff will acquire a significant minority interest in the Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd. (MGP) and will also head that company as its executive director. Furthermore, Niki Lauda, currently non-executive chairman of MGP, will also acquire a stake in the company. Together with Ross Brawn, Lauda and Wolff will complete the management of the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 racing team.

After more than 22 years as Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, Daimler AG Vice President Norbert Haug will conclude his career at the end of 2012.

His contract will come to an end by mutual agreement with the Board of Management. Preparations for the forthcoming season continue as planned. Norbert Haug has led the Motorsport division of Mercedes-Benz since 1 October 1990. In that time, Mercedes-Benz and its partners won six Formula One world championship titles and took 87 Formula One victories.

There was an adrenaline rush today at the German national football team’s training camp in Tourrettes: with around two weeks to go before the start of the European Championships, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg paid Joachim Löw’s team a short visit.

In motorsport, there are days when the stars simply seem to align and everything comes together perfectly.

Sunday in Shanghai was one of those days. Nico Rosberg won his first Grand Prix at his 111th attempt – 111 years (and three weeks) after the first ever Mercedes took victory at the 1901 Nice Speed Weeks. What’s more, this year marks exactly three decades since Nico’s father Keke became world champion – in a season that, just like 2012, saw three different winners of the first three races (on the road, at least, before the first two finishers in Brazil were disqualified for technical irregularities…)

The Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team is pleased to announce a new multi-year partnership with Puma.

With effect from 1 January 2012, the global sport lifestyle brand becomes the team’s exclusive licensing partner for footwear, apparel and accessories, and an official Team Partner. The agreement incorporates branding locations for Puma on the MGP W03, the team’s 2012 race car, and on all race and teamwear products.
