World Rally Championship entries hit new high
Eight teams are currently registered for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship
Interest in the World Rally Championship has hit a new high with more than 10 teams set to chase manufacturers’ points during the course of the 2011 season which kicks off this week with Rally Sweden (10 – 13 February).

Sebastien Loeb extended his lead in Spain
Through this morning’s opening loop of asphalt Catalunya Rally stages
The Citroen Total World Rally Team leader started the day with fastest time from second-placed Sebastien Ogier, allowing Loeb to further his advantage at the front of the field to 8.2 seconds. “The end of the stage was quite wet,” said Loeb. “We had to be careful. The important thing is that we beat [Sebastien] Ogier.”
In a shock development , BP Ford Abu Dhabi Team driver Mikko Hirvonen has been named the new winner of Repco Rally Australia after Stewards handed Sebastien Loeb, Dani Sordo and Sebastien Ogier time penalties for a technical infringement. 
The Citroen Total World Rally Team heads to Rally Norway with – publically at least – some uncharacteristically low expectations of success.
