Christopher Zanella powered to victory during today’s (Sunday) sun-soaked final Formula Two race at Monza, leading home Kevin Mirocha while Luciano Bacheta finished third to wrap up the championship title and secure the Williams F1 test.

Swiss racer sets pace during F2’s first visit to Budapest track
Swiss racer Christopher Zanella ended on top during today’s (Thursday) Formula Two pre-event test at the Hungaroring. The 22-year-old, who currently lies third in the drivers’ standings, put in a stunning lap late in the final sun-soaked session to finish ahead of fellow countryman Alex Fontana. Romanian Mihai Marinescu, competing on his adopted home circuit, finished third overall closely followed by Kevin Mirocha and Markus Pommer.

Swiss ahead of Pommer and McKenzie in closely fought session
Mathéo Tuscher secured his third pole of the season during today’s (Saturday) opening Formula Two qualifying session at Paul Ricard. In cooler temperatures, the 15 year-old Swiss posted a best time of 1:53.023s late in the session to edge out Markus Pommer and Daniel McKenzie during the closely fought session which saw the top 10 covered by a second.

Brit takes P1 in closing seconds ahead of Snegirev and Mirocha
Luciano Bacheta secured his third Formula Two pole during today’s (Saturday) enthralling wet/dry qualifying session at Brands Hatch. The 22-year-old Brit posted a best time of 1:22.806s, in the last few seconds on the damp but drying track to just edge out Max Snegirev with the Russian claiming his best ever qualifying result.

Brit bounces back from non-finish yesterday to take front-row start
Luciano Bacheta bounced back from a disappointing race yesterday to secure pole for today’s (Sunday) second Formula Two race at Spa. The 22-year-old Brit waited for a clear track midway through the session to set a best time of 2:03.925s to clinch his second pole of the season. He was followed closely home – just 0.166s – by round seven winner Markus Pommer with Alex Fontana taking third for today’s race which gets underway at 14:15 (local time).

German secures front row start ahead of McKenzie and Marinescu
Markus Pommer put in a superb late lap to storm to his maiden pole during today’s (Saturday) closely-fought Formula Two qualifying session at Spa. The 21-year-old German waited until the closing stages to post a blistering 2:04.623s to edge out Daniel McKenzie, who had held the top spot for much of the 30-minute session, by a mere 0.050s, with Mihai Marinescu securing third.
