Superstars world of racing enjoy successful Czech weekend with 26.000 fans on the grandstands
Mercedes and BMW shared wins in the Superstars International Series today at Brno in front of 26.000 fans. In Race 1, pole-sitter Thomas Biagi sailed to victory by leading from start to finish and took the lead in standings in front of his Mercedes-AMG Romeo Ferraris team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi.

Ferrari Challenge Europe rolls into the Czech Republic for round two
Under leaden skies at the Czech circuit of Brno the Ferrari Challenge cars took to the track this afternoon to qualify for the first race. With the new system of grid penalties in place for success (1st =-6 places; 2nd = -4 places; 3rd =-2places) in Monza, a good qualifying position was more important than ever before.

Alexander Talkanitsa Senior, Junior dominates practice 1 in Czech Republic
The Superstars World was back on a roll today at Brno for Round 2 of the 2013 season. The GTSprint International Series was the first to go on-track for Practice 1 and it was a Ferrari to prevail with the father-son duo of Alexander Talkanitsa Sr and Jr. who had prevailed in Race 1 at Monza.

Team principal Gianni Giudici aims for maiden Superstars win
Next week’s Superstars International Series round at Brno is set to feature plenty of excitement. After announcing the comeback of Fabrizio Giovanardi, who will drive a Porsche Panamera for Team Petri Corse, the series is proud to welcome back former F1 racer Christian Klien, who will be running aboard a Scuderia Giudici-prepared BMW M3 E92.

Biaggi has a total of 347 points, 30.5 more than Sykes, while Melandri is 38.5 points adrift of Biaggi
Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing Team) scored a single podium for third place in race two at the eni FIM Superbike World Championship round in Portugal today, but two strong points scores saw him extend his overall lead as his other championship rivals found trouble. Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing Team) won his first race of the 2012 season in the second outing today, which went to all 22-laps duration.

Sykes set a 1 minute 41.415 second lap in Superpole 3 to record his new track best
Tissot-Superpole has almost become the personal property of Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) in 2012 and in Portimao he recorded his eighth win in this competition, which allocates final grid positions for the top 16 qualifiers. His most recent Superpole success before today was at Brno, in July. Tom now has ten career pole positions to his credit, the same as SBK legend Pierfrancesco Chili, placing him equal eighth in the all time rankings.

This was Melandri’s first double as an SBK rider and the first double for the official BMW team.
Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) made a real play for the 2012 eni FIM Superbike World Championship title today by putting in a double win of the highest quality, overcoming Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) in both 20-lap contests at the classically sculpted Brno circuit.

A much delayed finish to the Tissot-Superpole session, due to an oil spill and the time required to clean up the track afterwards, saw Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) take pole for the seventh time this season. His winning lap time of 1 minute 58.010 was a new best lap.

Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) went second quickest
Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati) improved on his morning time to also head up the first qualifying session at Brno, setting a time of 1 minute 59.452 seconds before rains arrived at an inopportune moment, then falling heavier at the end of the session.

Spectacular Brno track greets World Superbike round 9
Attention will undoubtedly be focused on Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing Team) and Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport), who split the wins in the previous round at MotorLand Aragon (Spain) as well as in last year’s round at Brno. With a similar result the two Italians, first and second in the standings, could be well on the way towards the title run-in.
