Corvette wins for first time in 12 Hours since 2009

Audi Sport extended its remarkable run at Sebring International Raceway on Saturday. Marcel Fassler, Benoit Treluyer and Oliver Jarvis won the 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida in their No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro – the first hybrid car to win at Sebring and in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.












Last weekend’s fourth Super GT round of 2011 at Sugo, in the Miyagi district which was badly affected by Japan’s recent earthquake and subsequent nuclear disaster, was understandably of particular significance to the championship and Benoît Tréluyer whose race was marred by tyre issues. 
Audi Sport Team Joest Audi R18 TDI driven by Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer fought its way to a magnificent win of the 79′th runing of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011.
Whilst the Motul-Autech team’s #23 Nissan GT-R was still in the hunt for the title entering the final round of the Super GT championship, Benoît Tréluyer knew that the task was going to be a difficult one. After all, only a victory would do.
Petit Le Mans, the second round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, did not provide the result that either Benoît Tréluyer or the Audi team were hoping for. However, this did not prevent the Frenchman from providing a positive debrief of his second experience at the wheel of the Audi R15 TDI, and his first on North American soil.
Peugeot swept the front row for Petit Le Mans powered by MAZDA 2 on Friday with Anthony Davidson taking pole position with a lap of 1:07.187 at Road Atlanta. The British pilot put his Peugeot 908 HDi ahead of Pedro Lamy in the sister car by 0.222 seconds. 
Petit Le Mans, held at the Road Atlanta circuit, represents the second round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC), and is set to play host to this year’s fourth confrontation between the factory Audi and Peugeot teams. Whilst the French manufacturer won at Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone it was the German marque who clinched victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours, and they now have their sights set on the ILMC title.
There was massive disappointment for the crew of the Motul-Autech Nissan GT-R at the weekend as the team was heading to victory at Sugo until the car’s kill-switch suddenly engaged.

Audi has revealed the signing of three new drivers as it looks to reclaim the Le Mans 24 Hours title in June. The German marque saw its winning run at La Sarthe ended last year by fierce rivals Peugeot, but has responded by confirming the addition of Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer to its line-up for the 2010 race.
