No Petronas backing for the Factory Yamaha MotoGP team in 2012
The Factory Yamaha Team, which raced without a title sponsor in MotoGP this season, will be without Petronas backing in 2012. The Malaysian oil and gas corporation came on-board with Yamaha in 2009 (when Fiat was the title sponsor) and thus shared in two consecutive Triple Crown MotoGP victories – the Riders’, Constructors and Teams’ titles – in 2009 and 2010.

Round 10: United States GP – Free Practice One & Two at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Jorge Lorenzo, last year’s winner here at Laguna Seca, finished the first day of running for the United States Grand Prix fastest overall, just 0.141seconds ahead of Dani Pedrosa. Casey Stoner, who was fastest in the morning’s free practice, finished third fastest a further 0.034seconds adrift.

Casey Stoner moved ahead of team-mate Dani Pedrosa in the final minutes; Ben Spies was unhurt in a fall during the last hour; Valentino Rossi was forced to miss the whole second day due to sickness.
Laguna Seca hosts the Red Bull US Grand Prix this weekend as the premier class lands Stateside for Round 10 of the 2011 MotoGP World Championship.
