One of F1′s most respected and experienced insiders thinks Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes switch was about money and management.
“If you compare the two (teams), you must come to the conclusion that there were no sporting reasons for him to leave McLaren,” Tony Dodgins, a veteran British journalist, is quoted by the Swiss magazine Speed Week.

Lewis Hamilton’s father and former manager Anthony has tipped his son to win the title for Mercedes within three years.
After six years, 20 wins and a title, McLaren careerist and long-time team driver Hamilton, 27, has decided to join the famous ‘Silver Arrows’ in 2013. “I am sure Lewis will be champion at Mercedes in three years,” father Anthony, who was sidelined as manager by his son a few years ago, told the German news agency SID.

Paul di Resta on Sunday admitted his best-ever formula one result in Singapore will not hurt his chances of stepping up to a better team.
Force India openly wants to keep hold of the talented Scot, but di Resta has been linked with the potentially vacant seats at the McLaren and Mercedes teams. “I would like to think I am capable of stepping up to one of the bigger teams,” he said on Sunday after finishing fourth in Singapore; his best result since debuting last year.

Anthony Hamilton, the father of 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton, also no longer manages his McLaren-driving son. Journalist Tom Cary said Force India driver di Resta’s split with Hamilton snr “happened some weeks ago” and “was not planned”.

Two formula one drivers on Tuesday hinted strongly that, despite not yet having official confirmation, they are staying on the grid in 2012. Paul di Resta, the most successful rookie this year, was asked by F1′s official website if it is true that he will be staying at Force India next season.
