BMW along 4 ‘Z’ Ride

The car publicly premiered last week at Daytona International Speedway, making it the first ALMS GT car to lap Daytona’s high banks in advance of the 2014 combined championship of the ALMS and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series. It races for the first time in less than a month at the 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida.

Leitzinger joins Dyson Racing for ALMS opener

Dyson Racing is celebrating its 30th year in professional sports car racing this year. It is fitting that long-time Dyson Racing driver Butch Leitzinger will join Chris Dyson and Guy Smith in the No. 16 Lola-Mazda coupe for the 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida on March 16. An 18-year veteran of the team, Butch first drove for team in the 1995 24 Hours of Daytona. He has won three championships for the team, placed second four times and third twice.

Sweedler, Bell to drive Team West/AJR/Boardwalk Ferrari in ALMS

West Racing and Alex Job Racing are joining forces to compete for the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón’s GT championship in 2013. The team – Team West/AJR/Boardwalk Ferrari – will make its debut at the season-opening 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida.

Tucker/Mucke/Senna to drive new Vantage GTE at ALMS opener

Aston Martin Racing will make the 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida part of its 2013 GT racing program, the team has announced. Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke will team with AMR newcomer Bruno Senna in a 2013-spec Aston Martin Vantage GTE for the opening round of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.

Greaves Motorsport laid out its 2013 racing plans during the FIA World Endurance Championship finale in China last weekend. It included an intention to run at least one car in March at the 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring fueled by Fresh from Florida. The move makes total sense to team manager Jacob Greaves.

The Swiss driver took pole position for Rebellion Racing with a lap of 1:09.089 (132.351 mph) in his No. 12 Lola-Toyota coupe – the first honor in ALMS for the Swiss team.
