Four drivers tie in the standings after an epical battle for the title
Lucas di Grassi won, but Indycar ace Bia Figueiredo stole the show by grabbing the second heat at the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions at Arena Sapiens in Florianopolis, Brazil. Di Grassi failed to finish the Sunday race, but the 25 points he collected with his victory on Saturday were enough to give him the first spot on the aggregate results even tough Felipe Massa, Rubens Barrichello and Bia Figueiredo have scored the same amount. Final positions were defined according to the race 1 order at the checkered flag.

Lucas di Grassi drove a superb race to grab the heat 1 of the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs on Saturday night at Arena Sapiens in Florianópolis, Brazil. Still searching a seat in Formula 1 after his début for Virgin Racing in 2010, Di Grassi started on second spot and won a fierce battle against Felipe Massa and the polesitter Antonio Pizzonia, respectively second e third at the checkered flag.

Jules Bianchi has proven that he is back on top form by claiming pole position in this afternoon’s qualifying session in Monza, albeit by the tightest of margins: the Frenchman pipped ART teammate Sam Bird and Jerome d’Ambrosio by less than a tenth of a second.

Series’ leader Pastor Maldonado’s misfortune in Spa Sprint Race means that closest rival Sergio Perez gets another chance at closing the gap between him and the so far unstoppable Rapax racer. With a sixth consecutive win in a feature race, the Venezuelan has become the most successful driver in GP2 Series’ history. He is now twenty-seven points ahead of Perez in the standings and a step closer to the crown.

Sergio Perez has kept his championship aspirations alive with a dominant victory in this morning’s sprint race at Spa Francorchamps, claiming the lead on the first race and controlling his rivals through 3 restarts to take his fourth win of the season ahead of teammate Giedo van der Garde and Alvaro Parente.

Pastor Maldonado has collected his sixth, and toughest, win of the season in today’s feature race at Spa Francorchamps, benefiting when polesitter Jerome d’Ambrosio stopped late in the race and then hanging on against a huge push in the closing laps to win by just 0.2 seconds from Alvaro Parente and Romain Grosjean.
Romanian on pole after four red flags
Michael Herck has claimed his first pole position in the GP2 series in a rain lashed qualifying session this afternoon at Spa Francorchamps, taking the top spot late in a session which saw red flags stop proceedings four times as he held off local driver Jerome d’Ambrosio and series leader Pastor Maldonado.
