Sebastian Vettel has hit back at critics who claim the new triple consecutive world champion is not good at overtaking.
The critics have said the Red Bull driver is good at dominating grands prix from pole position, but usually falters when he needs to do some passing en route to the chequered flag. But German Vettel thinks his races in Abu Dhabi, when he fought through the field from the pitlane to finish on the podium, and in Brazil where he won the title despite a first-lap spin, have proved the critics wrong.
Luiz Razia, the 2012 GP2 runner-up, is reportedly in talks over a 2013 race seat with Force India, Caterham and Marussia.
“I am negotiating with all three,” the Brazilian told Agencia Estado. “Before, it was all the teams, now only these three.” The 23-year-old admitted his preference is Force India. “There is still a chance to close (a deal) with them,” said Razia, referring to the vacancy alongside Paul di Resta for 2013, even though Adrian Sutil is regarded as the favourite.
Organisers of the Brazilian grand prix are planning to send Michael Schumacher back into retirement in style.
In late 2006, the seven time world champion entered his first retirement with a pre-race celebration on the Interlagos grid involving soccer legend Pele. Now, with the 43-year-old’s ultimate trip into retirement also coinciding with a Brazilian season finale, race organisers are planning a similar send-off.
Robert Kubica enjoyed a dream return to competition at the weekend, winning the Ronde Gomitolo di Landa rally in Italy.
Wearing a bandage on his right forearm that masked the most serious scars of his F1 career-ending rally crash of 19 months ago, Italian reports said the Pole took his Subaru Impreza to victory in all four time-trials.
