Motorsports lost a giant this morning with the passing of Chris Economaki at the age of 91. The dean of American racing journalists, Economaki was the face of motorsports on ABC, CBS and ESPN, as well as editor, publisher and contributor for National Speed Sport News for more than 60 years.

Melbourne may drop F1 race after 2014 – premier
Losses have grown to almost $50 million
2014 could be the last time Melbourne hosts the Australian grand prix, state Victorian premier John Brumby has admitted. The race’s annual taxpayer-funded losses have grown to almost $50 million, moving the ruling Labor Party to consider not renewing the current contract.

Making his first race start from 19th position on the grid at the famed Watkins Glen International road course, FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani could not do much to improve his position during the race. Fuel strategy was the key in today’s race. The team brought Alex in for his first stop on lap 5 in the hopes that an alternate strategy would play in their favor.

The Indianapolis 500 airs on ABC for the 46th consecutive year. ESPN on ABC’s live, high definition telecast from Indianapolis Motor Speedway is presented by GoDaddy.com and begins with a one-hour pre-race show at noon ET. The race coverage begins at 1 p.m.
