Behind the scenes, hard work is going on for the future of the Formula 3 Euro Series.

The concept for 2012 was presented during the penultimate race weekend of the current season at Valencia in Spain. The most significant change is the planned introduction of the new generation of Formula 3 race cars that will be homologated by motorsport’s global governing body, the FIA, from 2012 for a period of four years.









With India making its debut next year and the US returning to the 2012 calendar, the F1 chief executive is also desperate to tap into the Russian market. But he is believed to be confined to a new agreement with team bosses to cap the annual calendar at 20 races. 


Italian media sources are reporting that Pirelli will be F1′s sole tyre supplier in 2011 and beyond. Autosprint and Italiaracing say the Milan-based marque has been selected by the teams and F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone to replace the departing control supplier Bridgestone. 
A deal was struck for a race to be held in Austin, Texas following weeks of speculation about the potential return of a race in America, F1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone announced on Tuesday that the event will take place from 2012 to 2021 on a new purpose-built facility in Austin. 



It is said that a new Concorde Agreement, to bind the teams and the commercial rights holders to the FIA until the end of 2012, is ready to be given the final green light by Max Mosley and the 26 World Motor Sport Council members.
