Heidfeld said returning to Sauber for the last races of 2010 is like coming “home”
Returning Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld is still in talks with other teams about a full-time race cockpit in 2011. The 33-year-old German has been Mercedes’ reserve driver for most of this year, before he recently signed up with Pirelli and began testing the Italian marque’s 2011 tyres.

The Malaysian millionaire’s team is called Team Air Asia
Lotus team owner Tony Fernandes’ application to launch a GP2 team for 2011 has been successful, the series announced on Tuesday. The Malaysian millionaire’s team is called Team Air Asia, named after his Kuala Lumpur based low-fare airline, and is “strongly linked to formula one”, GP2 organisers said in a statement.

The price for customer teams of Mercedes’ 2011-specification KERS system has reportedly increased from an original EUR 1 million to 6 million. Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport reports that F1 teams initially agreed that customer supplies of the energy-recovery technology next should cost purchasing teams just 1 million euros.

FIA confirms no 13th team, 20 races in 2011
Jacques Villeneuve on Wednesday said he has not given up on heading his own formula one team in 2011. Earlier in Paris, the FIA ruled that neither Villeneuve’s collaboration with Italian racing outfit Durango, or the Spanish applicant Epsilon Euskadi, had satisfied the requirements for the vacant 13th place on next year’s grid.

Kamui Kobayashi will again line up for Peter Sauber’s team in the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2011. The Japanese driver, who will celebrate his 24th birthday on Monday 13th September, has collected 21 World Championship points so far this season and recorded a best race result of sixth at Silverstone. He has made it into the top ten qualifying on three occasions.

More details emerge about F1′s new shape for 2013
According to emerging rumours, the FIA has decided to leave the 13th team position vacant for the 2011 season. It is believed that Epsilon Euskadi, and the Villeneuve/Durango alliance, were the only two contenders to make their grand prix debuts next year.

It is believed that, as well as Stefan GP, Villeneuve’s joint bid with the Italian former GP2 outfit Durango is in competition with Epsilon Euskadi for the last place on the 2011 formula one grid.

Mike Gascoyne says he is not surprised that Heikki Kovalainen’s name is being linked with a possible switch to a rival team. “That’s the first time I’ve heard that,” the Lotus technical boss told Finland’s Turun Sanomat, when asked about the rumours linking Kovalainen with a 2011 return to his former team Renault.

Jaime Alguersuari has cautiously welcomed news that he will be staying with Toro Rosso in 2011.
Last week, team boss Franz Tost said the Spanish 20-year-old as well as current teammate Sebastien Buemi are “both confirmed” for next season. Swiss 21-year-old Buemi initially reacted by denying he has signed a new contract, before clarifying that he will indeed be staying with the Faenza based team in 2011.
