At the wheel of his Dimensions Doors / Novatech Van Diemen, Rémy Audette, who won the previous race in Virginia, will need to familiarize himself with the track at Road Atlanta, a task that does not scare the Quebec driver.

« It’s the first time of my career that I will compete on the Road Atlanta track but it doesn’t worry me. On the contrary, I am really looking forward to it because I’ve only ever seen this course while playing my X-Box! » indicates Rémy. « I’m ready and anxious for the races and for the testing and qualifying beforehand » he adds.

Rémy Audette will not be the only one new to the Road Atlanta track; several of his competitors will also be there for the first time. « It’s a fast course with some technical sections, the kind of course that I am usually very comfortable with. I’m confident that I’ll do well and will bring home enough points to keep the championship lead » confides Rémy.

This will be the second time in Rémy Audette’s Formula 2000 career that he heads into a race weekend as the championship leader. « It was back in 2009 at Mosport. I don’t really feel any additional pressure, I just have to do my homework by making sure that I set the car up properly during the testing, that I stay concentrated, and that I make the best decisions during the race ». The entire Audette Racing team heads to Georgia with optimism.

« The car stayed in the United States since Virginia so I have not practised with it since then. There weren’t any modifications to make to the car but this time has allowed me to focus on my physical training to be the best prepared for the weekend » concludes Rémy Audette. Rémy currently leads the 2011 championship with 89 points after two races, 14 points ahead of Australian Nathan Morcom.

The Formula 2000 Championship Series drivers will take to the track as of Thursday for practice. On Friday, they will have their open test sessions, qualifications for the first race, and at 2:15pm the first competition will commence. The second race will take place on Saturday, May 7th at 1pm. Both races are part of Road Atlanta’s Formula D drift weekend programme.

North-American Formula 2000 is the Audette Racing Team’s primary goal for this year. Mathieu Audette, who announced last month that he will not take part in the Canadian Touring Car Championship, will drive his Acura RSX Type-S in several non-championship Touring competitions later in the year.

The Audette Racing Team benefits form the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Gulf, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
